Congrats on your 139 days!  I so agree - getting off of tramadol was the very best thing I have done in a while.  It is SO much better now :) just wanted to tell you I'm very happy for you!

Here is the link to Emily's journal that was mentioned above http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/251730/Tramadol--Ultram-Recovery-Room-Part-40
I am 139 days free from Tramadol and while its really rough WDing from it is SOOOO worth it!!!  I am finally "Me" again and have my life back.  Had my first Tram-free Christmas in 6 years and it was amazing.  Like  ImDONE I read and re-read  all the posts on Emily's journal while WDing and not only was it a wealth of information it gave me hope and the knowledge that no matter how horrible I was feeling it was only temporary and there was a light at the end of the tunnel.  Blessings, Lisa

Well, you've definitely come to the right place.

The best advice I can give you about getting off of tramadol (I'm over 150 days off of tramadol) is to get as much information as you can about the drug you are on and the various ways to get off of it.  And a good place to start for this is going to a thread titled "EmilyPosts Day 45 Again Cold Turkey Tramadol Withdrawal".  If you google "tramadol withdrawal" this will be one of many links to choose from.

I can not tell you how much reading her posts and learning about her journey from getting off this drug helped in my own recovery.  Hearing about what the drug was made from, what areas of my body were being affected by this drug (example - did you know there was a strong anti-depressant (similar to effexor) contained within drug, along with its synthetic opiate?  I DID NOT know about this (thanks doc) and it made withdrawing from this drug so much more confusing than your standard opiate (please don't get me wrong, I know getting off any drug is difficult).  But this little anti-depressant "bonus" added to this drug really sent me for a loop.  It wasn't until I read about getting off of tramadol that the bells went off for me.  And I learned about the things I needed to do to get through those early days when I quit.

Please take the time to look it up.  It was a LIFESAVER for me (along with the folks here, thank g-d for them too!).  And the added benefit to reading her thread?  It gave me something to do while I was going through the worst time of my life and felt completely lost.  It was the absolute best distraction and gift all at the same time.

Hope this helps - I'm here if you want to know any more about what I went through and how I got off this horrible, horrible drug.  You are worth it - and you CAN do it.  It's possible, just give it a fighting change.  Knowledge is POWER.

:)

I feel your pain babe. I myself am on tramadol and getting of it is very hard. My first addiction were to vicodin and percocet.. I have detoxed off of both of them. But I will say that by far tramadol has the worst withdraw symptons. I'm still on the tramadol but I have went 3 and 4 days without them and it was bad. My head and eyes hurt. I had bad stomach issues, restless leg at night and bad nausea. When I detoxed from vicodin the wds were not half as bad. I wish you the best and am here for you.
