My advice and experience is to stay away from sub your w/d will be worse and last months and months. I went back to percs and tapered and its much easier and the w/d were not nearly as bad. Check out or search for a site called Sub Sux and do some reading and go to more than one doctor if you take this route.
Terry & Texan,
Good comments Texan - Suboxone is a wonderful medication and will help addicts, but most doctors will not tell you that it is a very strong opiate it self, even though it is a partical opaite agonist. Texan did it right by only staying on the medication short term. I used suboxone for nearly 4 years and it was very hard to get off it, Some people though need suboxone long term until they can work out some of the issues behind their drug taking and seeking. Work with your daughters doctor on a plan, if she is on the medication longer than 21 days, then make sure she has a taper plan in place and does not stop taking it suddenly, even at only 2 mg. Keep posting, introduce your daughter to Medhelp - it works. There are tons of great people here who will help and support both of you.
I want to add the stuff I read on how hard it is to detox from suboxone scared the bejesus out of me so I just used them to get down to a lower dose and go back to small dose of opiates because the opiates are easier to wd from and who wants to drag this out for 6 months plus it is expensive to be on a sub program. Mine wouldn;t take insurance. Help your little girl and be with her and the 2 of you can knock this out in a month. Tex
My doc said it would take a year and I paid him 300 and another 220 for pills but I used the sub down to 2 mg a day over 21 days and went back on a low dose of hydro for 2 more weeks and quit cold turkey. I bet that doc thought he had a cash cow but I still have about 50 suboxone I never used. Just a thought but worked for me. Tex
