Thanks for all the information it helped a lot on my decision on taking these. From what everyone says it seems like my Dr had my best interest at heart and would like to see me sleep but at the same time wasnt giving me something that would create a new monster. I dont know why but Im hesitant to take two. I would like to take one a night for maybe a week and then try some nights sleeping on my own. As soon as I can sleep on my own I would like to know and not be taking anything. Cant wait for that day!
I was on it in a inpatient facilty, and they were very careful about what they gave us. It is fast acting, but I needed 2 for awhile. I had no hangover, and got prescription to take home. I used it for a week and got off it no problem. If i woke up at 3 am, it seemed to have worn off though. But I recommend it personally.
I came off a strong valium addiction, went from 50mg to zero. Yea, stupid but I left all my valium in Iraq so I had no choice. Traz got me sleeping again, but I started out taking 2 (100mg) a night and eventually got down to one or even a half of one.
Oh, one other strange side effect. It gives you a erection so dont be alarmed when it happens for no reason.
It wont knock you out, but if you take it and just go to bed without any TV or anything it should get you sleeping. I noticed I sleep deeper with it too.
Not sure what to think of trazodone yet. Supposed to take 1-2 as needed, and I only took one and it made me drowsy but I still had a hard time falling asleep. I think I might have took it too early and tried to sleep when I wasnt quite ready. The good thing I guess is the only side effects I felt from the one was a very minor headache. Going to wait until Im really tired tonight before I take it and hope for better luck.
I actually had to laugh out loud just thinking of Stevens mom in that condition walking around this small town and everyone hearing that she was messed up..lol
oh yeah an I arr bad at typun today..
Just happens that I was in the Trazadone zone for about 3 months back in the mid 90's. My addiction dr prescribed it when I was in Alcohol rehab (yes I was a drunk before I become a junkie....rather a sad little life I've led). It help immensely with my insomnia. And I came off it with no ill effects
WARNING!! - Take it directly before bed or you may not make it to your bed. For me it was pretty fast acting and I spent more than one nite sleeping in the hall leading to my bedroom or on the floor....or was that the amitriptyline? I was on that for a while too hmmmmm. Well in any case good luck.
Salaam Alaikum
When my wife takes it I seem to sleep better!!! Just kidding!!
He wants me to point out that he felt really bad about the mix-up, but she already had the meds out - Even though he felt bad, we did laugh pretty hard about it.
Its safe its one of the better chioces far safer then benzo or perscription sleep aids (which normally contian a benzos ) .I hope you get a great night sleep.
HAHA thanks for bringing a smile to my face. Just imagining someone like my mom (never done wrong or abused anything in her life) being messed up on something and not realize whats going on! Poor Mom, atleast its a laughable story now : D
This is funny, had to share it with you -
This happened a few months ago (over the summer)
My fiance's mother is on several medications and she has him fill her weekly pill box - seperating her morning meds from her night-time meds - for a few days over the summer she was feeling tired and messed up - His dad even commented that he had ran into his mother and that she seemed messed up (she does not abuse meds or get messed up) - After a few days, she realized that she had her trazedone with her morning meds and had been taking them in the mornings....
It was hilarious...it would be funnier if you knew her...
Peace
Thanks guys I feel safe trying this out tonight now. Will post tomorrow after seeing how the first night of them goes. Also yes Feoh I need to do that!!! I think having the thought I will sleep beat into my head would help haha. Wish me luck!
I take trazadone, its not something that you will get addicted to. It isnt a great sleep aid, at least for me. But after awhile it does seem to help. The only thing I dont like about it is that it stuffs up my nose and makes me super hungry. But it is nothing like taking ambien or even valium.
I am dealing with sleep issues too, I know how you feel. I have the bedtime anxiety where I fear I wont sleep again and have to go through another day of work feeling out of my mind. It does get better though. I orginally got on them from going cold turkey off a 50mg valium addiction. Talk about not sleeping forever...
Good luck to you, wish you the best!!
Let us know how it works for you and start telling yourself over and over - I will sleep tonight!
Peace my friend
Well that was probably my #1 concern. Knowing that I think I will give it a try tonight and see if the side effects I get from it are worth the sleep. Reading some of the side effects sound bad and almost not worth it, but I guess I will have to see how it effects me. If I have minor side effects and get great sleep, WONDERFUL. If I have major side effects and still get little sleep, into the trash they go. I did talk about all this with my Dr and he assured me its ok to take but I just have a hard time taking only his word for it. Hearing it from people who have experienced taking it or just another source that doesnt get paid to write perscriptions is comforting. Thanks for post.
You are right, our mind power is stronger than most of us can comprehend - by getting in the habit of expecting no sleep, based on the law of attraction, you will get no sleep. It is still very difficult to place positive energy towards sleep when you have not had any. Do you meditate? It does work wonders.
This site does help more than I can describe...how did people do this before computers? lol
I made a post about sleep and a lot of people had some great suggestions. I tried many of them and still seem to only sleep 3-4 hours every other night (every 48 hours). Pretty annoying but Im starting to wonder if Its a mental thing and just assume I wont sleep. All in all yes though 17 days feels amazing, just saying it brings a smile to my face. Very skeptical on this as I am so happy for getting this far, if there is anything bad to be said about this drug I will simply toss them out. Hope you are doing well and thanks for talking with me through my first week, it helped more than you could ever imagine.
Brent
I think it could help you. It's not habit forming! : )
Hi Brent - I am not familiar with that drug other than the fact that my fiance's mother is prescribed trazedone for sleep - I only know that it is strong. I am sorry to hear that you are still having issues with sleep but overall you are doing great - 17 days, what a milestone.
Have you tried the other natural remedies posted in the health pages for sleep? I cannot help but to be somewhat distrustful of another strong prescription drug as I know you are too.
Best of luck - talk with you soon and keep up the good work man -
Peace
