just keep swimming.. :)

So... I started my next drop and it's what I wanted for my success  and my plan to be done by the end of December (or January if I need).. So I'm not here to hear about "it's time to jump"... :).   But for support for never turning back and being strong for tapering!!!!
I asked the Dr to switch me from 3 {5/325 norco} to 3, half of the {7,5/325} ..  I felt that the 5's were making me sick and giving me headaches for the last month and a half. I didn't feel like I was making progress. (Always sick). I have been on the the new dose for almost two weeks and feel great.  a lower norco/apap, I wanted to say that with will power and devoting to quit that tapering for me has been a good thing and it's only getting better. I'm very proud of were I am and how far I have come. Mentally and physically and in an addiction to a pain pill. I do remember were I was back in January/February and remember my emotional realization of were I was and were I would have ended up.
I thank all of you for listening and reading.I have more to post about my experiences during this rollercoaster ride. But for me just know it's the only one im taking. I will not take it again. I have my reasons for my slow progression. It's more for the mental not the physical. ;). It has not been easy but I feel it in my heart that it will be successful. You all have a fantastic night...

Keep swimming! You are doing great and you alone will know when it's time to jump. Maybe join NA now if you haven't already so that when you take the plunge you will have sober friends and a good support system in place. You're gonna make it! Good job so far.

Only half of a 7.5  (3 times a day) I never take a whole one. In a whole it's less than I was taking before. And it's less in all aspects not just the norco part.

Are you on the 5/325 or the 7.5/325 now?

Hi Penny, well congratulations on your thus far successful taper.  Tapering is one of the ways to quit abusing pills. For some types of pills, it's really the only way to quit. Most people are unable to have the strength and discipline to taper, and that's why quitting cold turkey is best for them. But, I think if you are able to taper off the pills, then that is great! I recently tapered off of the Norco I had been taking after surgery for a broken leg. I know how difficult it can be, but because I was able, with help, to do it, my withdrawals were fairly mild.  The key for me was to have a detailed plan, help at home with controlling the pills, and my doctors knowledge of my situation and her support.

Anyway, stay strong and focussed. Keep on going, you are doing great!  I wish you all the best!  Keep us posted on your progress.
