zopiclone addiction

i've been prescribed zopiclone for about 5years and have steadily become addicted to it i now use it get feelings of euphoria only problem is am tellin my doc allsorts to get more and more and now its out of control can someone please sugest any way to come off i have tried allsorts and had terrible withdrawals i am an addict an have taken almost anything for a buzz and i suffer with mental health probs too, am really low and struggling in a bit of a mess, thanks

Im not very familiar with zopiclone, but I do know that is a type of hypnotic medication used to help with sleep. Is sleep the reason you are taking it, or other? You may be able to switch over to a benzo, if so I would have to say valium would probably be your best bet. You need to come clean with your doctor, he should be able to recommend what your alternatives are...maybe a different meidication or some sort of tapering process to help get your addiction under control. You say that you have underlying mental health problems, so that also would need to be factored in. Stick around here Im sure with the wealth of knowledge here you should be able to get some solid advice. You've atleast taken a step forward in admitting your problem and trying to gain advice for your particular situation. How much are you taking a day? Are you only taking it at night for sleep or all day ?
Your best bet will mot liekly be to taper off ....
