anxiety cause leg and arm weakness

Hi guys,

I've been getting leg and arm weakness as of 1 month ago and its been the same feeling since then.
I moved to another country and its been about 4 months without a job, and I have been feeling down and stressed, and every day is the same thing. I wake up and do nothing and feel stressed.

I initially thought it was a back problem and did blood test, MRI of my spine, and nothing related to back issues according to my neurosurgeon.
I have been diagnosed with anxiety as of 1 year ago, but have learnt to control it. In the beginning it was intense but I am ok these days.

My question is, can my anxiety cause my leg and arm weakness for 1 month straight? I've never felt like this before.
My legs feel as if they are heavy and wobbly. My neurosurgeon thinks its due to my anxiety.
Has anyone felt like this? PLEASE HELP! I feel helpless.

Thanks

Hi there.  Yes, this can be a physical symptom of anxiety.  I'm very sorry you are going through this rough patch.  I would think of how you can work on the anxiety if it is finding a clinic to do some counseling or seeing a doctor for medication or best, do both.

How's the job search going?  It sounds frustrating.  I know money worries and trying to figure out how to make it all work can cause a lot of stress.  I wish you the best of luck with the search.  Get creative and maybe just take 'something' as you wait for the job you really want.  And that 'something' can maybe lead to the job you really want.

best of luck to you

Did your jello legs feel as though they wern't normal as how they should be? Because mine have been like this for a month. Just wondering, did your legs feel jelly/weak every day until you had peace of mind?

Really sorry to hear this. I went through the same thing related with hypochondria. I had all of these symptoms you are expressing; now they are all gone. You need a peace of mind with whatever is giving you anxiety. It always stems from somewhere.

I had the jello legs, pain my left arm, chest... all of that. It's all gone. Exercise really helps! Keep this in mind, also.

Hi! Thanks for your reply.
The thing is, with the anxiety, I'm not going through any panic attacks or any heart palpitations.I just feel like my leg and arms feel very weakened and feel wobbly/jelly/heavy like. It's kind of hard to explain.
I probably may need to visit a psychiatrist...

Search for a job is slow at the moment. I may need to find something in the mean time to distract myself. It's probably also because of 4 months of doing nothing which may have caused muscle weakness.
