Worrying Nose Bleeds, anybody help?

Hiya guys, well back (again) anxiety just, refuses to let me go, just...fed up with worrying over and over and not being able to shake things out of my head.

So, as the title of the question imposes, i have had for almost well over a year now, what seems to be a persistant nose bleed, though i'm unsure whether to call it a proper nosebleed...i just dont know.

the typical symptoms that occur are, that either both, or my right nostril produce blood trails and speckles when i blow it or rub a tissue at the back of the nostril, the blood can be dark coloured or bright, it dosn't appear to drip, climb down my throat or come up when i hack up and cough phlegm which means its purely coming from my nose.

I'm pretty prone to headaches and migraine, which not only 10 minutes ago, i had a quick pulse of a headache on my right temple and i spotted more blood on a tissue where i'd checked from my right nostril and now i'm sat with feeling awful with a pain in my head and i feel sick and wobbly cos i cant get the anxiety to shift!, i mean...those combined make me feel so scared and fearful for someting so fatal going on my head....

its hard to explain what could be the source of this, i have hayfever and take antihistamine for that, i'm on citalopram, is it possibly because im a smoker? and when i do blow my nose its too hard and i keep poking it?, i'm also on anti-vertigo pills which havn't seemed to affect me with any side effects.  or is it just dry air or allergies?, i dont know!

i did recently see a doctor and told them about this (wasnt my registred GP this was someone different for that day), she just told me to stop poking it and blowing to see if there was anything there and that this wasnt something to be concerend about, was she having a laugh?, it aint that easy!

i'm finding it a struggle to figh the urge to not keep blowing or checking every so often for signs of blood, it happens at least once a day, or wont happen for a few.

in the meantime though, spose all i can do is just keep calm and...not be bothered by it as the doc says, i personally think that's not what i needed to hear.

There are many small blood vessels in the nose.  As you suffer from allergies, and say you blow your nose alot, it may be something that will happen from time to time.

If any of your medications are drying, that will contribute to your problem.  I use a nose spray when allergies or sinus gets bad.  Frankly I like salt water too.  Just put a bit in warm water and sniff it up in morning.  There are sprays but I don't think they are as effective.
Flonase or other such prescription nose sprays.

When my son had a series of nose bleeds the doctor told me he had unusually fragile vessels, as well as allergies.  He didn't like taking medicine and outgrew eventually.

If dry air is the trigger, a humidifer might help.     Good luck!

Had nosebleeds all my life.  It's just dry nose plus the stress of a lot of blowing when you have allergies.  It comes and goes.  Don't put any petroleum products such as Vaseline in it, they'll clog the pores and make it worse.  Nurses used to recommend this.  Salt water is good for clearing sinuses and, more, for preventing infections, but it might make the nose bleed more as it's very drying, so don't overdo it when the bleeding is worst.  Putting a little aloe vera in can help, so can unpetroleum jelly, but it's usually nothing to worry about.

I don't know anything about nosebleeds, but I'll bet if you do a web search there should be some info or if you're not satisfied with the doctors input, get another opinion. I do know alot about anxiety and I know it makes all other illnesses  seem worse, at least for me anyway. Are you on anxiety meds? I have had to work very hard in disciplining my thoughts and choosing not to worry. I meditate on the scriptures because I know God cannot lie, so I find comfort in them and in putting my trust in Him. I will pray for you. I hope you will keep posting how you are doing! Studchcik
