Don't get me wrong. He is a great boss. He tried to get me a big raise last year but our board of executives didn't give me that much. In turn, he lets me drive when we go to other locations, which in turn gives me money for mileage.
What does your boss do that makes you react with such anxiety? Is he a real tyrant? Always finding fault? Is he "picking" on you personally more than the others? How do other people in the office feel about him? Is the concensus among all of you that he creates a negative work environment?
Is there someone you can talk to about his behavior? Is there an HR dept? Does HE have a boss. Those actions can be kind of tricky unless you have the majority of people backing up your feelings, but the most important thing you can have is solid documentation of specific examples of the things he says and does.
If, on the other hand, if it is just YOU that reacts to him with anxiety, can you transfere to a different department? Could you possibly talk with him? I don't want to say something glib like "find another job," especially in this economy. But you can't keep putting yourself through this every day. It's really unhealthy. Perhaps you could consider some therapy to help you learn to cope with whatever it is he does to trigger your anxiety.
It's not an easy situation you're in, but there is an answer. I hope you find it soon.
Peace

I guess my question is,
How do you cope with your boss when you have to be there?
For instance, today, he had gone to run errands all morning. I saw him for 5 minutes. So by the most part I had been fairly okay, just mild anxiety. He got back about 5 minutes ago and now my stomach is hurting.
