Is this Anxiety-Panic or a medical issue? Please help. Scared 21 year old.

Hi there.

I am a 21 year old male. I am iffy on my daily activities. I spend a ton of time on the computer, but I still go out and do things. Skateboard, hang with friends, etc. Ever since I was about 16 years old, I started having Panic attack issues. My heart races, my throat kind of tightens, it feels like I cant breathe, I am afraid something is going wrong with me (medically) and I am afraid I am dying. (Having a heart attack, Cardiac Arrest, etc) I have no family history of Heart Attacks, or any heart issues. I do however have a family history of anxiety and panic attack issues. My mom has them, My sisters, and myself. None of this really started until I started distancing myself from my friends and spending more time in my room and on the computer. I don't smoke, I don't drink, nor do I do any drugs. I am just afraid of what is going on with me. I am afraid something is medically wrong with me. It tends to happen more in large areas, such as grocery stores, etc. I start to feel like i'm going to faint, my heart starts racing, etc. I have never passed out though. I just keep having these symptoms. I do exercise. I do 200 sit-ups a day, I do around 500 Jumping Jacks per day, 200 push-ups per day, and I play basketball, and I walk about 2-3 miles every night. What is the likleyness of someone my age, with what i described, having heart issues? Is it more than likely anxiety-panic?

Please let me know.
I need help!
Thank you.

Are you replenishing your fluids and getting enough to eat? As active as you are, you need to be drinking plenty of water and eating something at least every 3 hours to keep your blood sugar up. Also, I might recommend skipping a day here and there so your body can recover from the daily exercise. Do you get enough sleep?

One of the things that triggered my anxiety attacks when I was a teen was spending too much time alone. There was a time when I worked nights and during the day I had all this time to myself alone while friends were at work or school. Sometimes a drastic change in your routine can trigger panic attacks. If you're Googling symptoms on the computer that will only feed your anxiety. Spend some more time with friends and keep your mind occupied. When you feel an attack coming on, tell yourself that it is indeed a panic attack and talk yourself down. It will pass.

Hi,
From what it sounds like, you are having panic attacks and not any heart issues. When I have panic attacks they feel like you described them, shortness of breath, heart beating fast, feel like fainting, and I feel like I am dying. What I am going to suggest is to find a psychiatrist in your area and talk to them about these panic attacks. They can offer resources that can help you handle these situations better. One way I handled mine was telling myself that I was not dying and that I was going to be ok...it was a mantra in my head while I was going through these attacks. I hope this helps!
