If this doctor you're seeing keeps telling you that it's "all in your head," you need to get yourself another doctor IMMEDIATELY!  I don't know in which century he aquired his medical degree but it wouldn't surprise me if he told you to purchase a "fainting couch," prescribed laudanum and diagnosed you with a "nervous & delicate constitution."

A thorough physical done by a good doctor includes far more than checking your heart rate and taking your blood pressure. It starts with a very indepth medical history, a  complete blood panel that goes beyond checking just the routine levels.
He should conduct eye and neurological tests for the dizziness and respiratory tests for the breathlessness. I would actually expect him to refer you to specialists for these tests.

You had your thyroid and iron checked, came up anemic and were given some tablets. You really need to find out if that fixed the anemia. Being anemic can lead to some of the symptoms you have. Personally, I wait until I found a new doctor. I don't know where in Scotland you live, but I know there are some first class hospitals there. You can call them and ask for a referral to a doctor who deals with young adults and anxiety and depression. (I'm not implying you're depressed or even have anxiety, but if he lists those issues as part of his practice, then you can be somewhat assured that HIS medical degree was awarded post WWII.)

I don't think you've gotten very good care so far. Is there anyone who can act as your advocate? Your parents? Are they supportive of the struggle you're going through? If not, is there another adult in your life who could stand up for you? I think doctors tend to blow off young women as hysterical, emotional and "hormone challenged!"

Keep us posted. We'll get this straightened out one way or another.
And when we do, we can all get together for a meal of haggis!
Chin up, Sweetie

Oh Im sorry if I wasn't clear I do agree with greenlydia that you have to get checked by a doctor. What I meant to say was that if you have been experiencing anxiety for a while it will most definetly take a toll on your body, and that may be why you are feeling dizzy and breathless. But regardless of the reason you should go to the doctor and get checked out. Anxiety is tricky because sometimes you are feeling well and get a strange  symptom and then the anxiety hits because you are like oh nooo what is this....and people tell you that it's all in your head BUT sometimes it's not. Although the symptoms can get worse with the anxiety because our mind and body are participating in a triathlon!!! Hope this makes sense.

I think you need to listen to your therapist and see a doctor for a very thorough physical. I agree with plomeli that our brains are extraordinarily powerful, they can get us to believe just about anything. But, I must disagree that everything you are experiencing is just stress and horrible anxiety. I will agree with that when all organic possibilities have been ruled out. In my humble opinion, doctors are far too free and easy with their diagnosis of anxiety. When anxiety is the only possibility left on the table, when all the tests have come back negative, only then should anxiety be ruled in.

I do hope you will consider getting a physical and discussing in detail with your doctor about your frequent dizziness and breathlessness while walking. I don't mean to frighten you, it could be something as simple as allergies, but to be safe, you need to have other things ruled out.

Please keep us up to date on how you're doing, OK?
Peace

It's all just stress and horrible anxiety the brain creates somatic symptoms. Our brains are sooooo powerful, they create symptoms and of course we believe it because it's our brain!!!! If you have been having anxiety for a couple of days or a month and you are not eating or sleeping well then your body is in a constant fight or flight response and it takes a toll. I'm glad you are getting help from a psychologist, have you been to a doctor yet???
