psychiatrists listen to your symptoms ask questions and give you pills but a therapist will sit and listen and help you process what you are going through but can't give out pills
Psychiatrists are too expensive for therapy.
I found a female psychologist. I have an appointment on Monday night. I hope she can help. I have had anxiety and IBS for 14 years.
It really depends on the person providing the therapy. I prefer psychologists, but psychiatrists can prescribe medications as well. Although psychologists can work with your doctor if you want to go that route.
For me, talk therapy is the MOST important step you can take. I too was apprehensive about talking to some stranger, but remember, this their profession and they are usually pretty good at it. They don't judge you, they try to help you. By getting everything out in the open, you can learn about why you have anxiety and learn and confront it....let us know how the search goes!
