Thanks Niko!!!
All I have to do is look for a glass thermometer now. I did buy a plastic thermometer at Boots (UK chemist) that had a metal tip that took the readings, but I don't suppose glass thermometers are that expensive.
Thanks!

Take your temperature before rising, with a GLASS thermometer for 10 minutes underarm-no covers & no clothes over shoulder area and far enough from your partner in the bed- days 1,3,5 & 7 out of any week and your temperature is consistently below 36.6 C or 97.8 F (or the 4 day average is below that), then you're 99% hypothyroid. The only time this test is not accurate is when you have an infection, which causes your temperature to rise.
Cheers!

Hi again Niko, thanks for your reply.
It's going to be hard pleading my case to my treating doctor as the NHS don't usually prescribe Natural Desiccated Thyroid.
With the Dr Barnes basal temperature self-test, do I take my temperature orally? I did do the self-test last time orally and the temperature came back very low. It did fluctuate and raise to a more normal reading a few days on the levo but then went back down again. I gave up as I thought I did something wrong.
Thanks

Hi again Lotus.
First let me say that low Thyroid function affects ALL the cells in your body, as the intracellular energy production,in the mitochondia,is impaired, which in turn affects the ability to fight infections, deal with pain and aches, the ability to heal and a whole list of other problems!
In your case the Levothyroxine (T4 -syntheticThyroid PREHORMONE!!) probably does not covert to T3 which is the active type of thyroid hormone that your cells can utilize.
You MUST plead your case to your treating doctor to request permission
from NHS to prescribe Natural Desiccated Thyroid.
If you do Dr. Barnes basal temperature self-test properly, chances are that you are still Hypothyroid, regardless of Lab results and /or present treatment.
Look no further for answers until this is ruled out!
If you have any questions about it, please send me a message.
I will be glad to explain anything you are not sure about.

Hi, thanks for your response.
I had the thigh/leg pain for quite some time and I had an ultrasound scan for a suspected ovarian cyst which came back clear. Also the pain happens when I'm not constipated.
Any pressure inside the abdominal cavity, such as an ovarian cyst or even constipation, can cause meralgica paresthetica. I had it just from extreme chronic constipation, so I know.
