Diane 35 Safe and Effective?

Greetings. My fiancee (38) is coming from Philippines in two weeks. We are thinking of her getting on birth control so it starts taking effect before she comes to America. May not have enough time to find someone and spend hundreds of dollars for her to get a doctor's prescription for birth control (nor do we have hundreds of dollars) before we marry. I have limited medical insurance, and probably not able to get her on some until marriage (for paperwork sake). So she could end up not being on any after the wedding. She never been on birth control before but she can get something called "Diane 35" for birth control. Apparently, it is over the counter and Americans order it online too. Is this suitable for her to obtain and start taking right now before the flies out, and will it be as effective as American pills?
Thank you.

Hi! Diane 35 is a medication used widely for treatment and control of acne. Though it does provide some birth control, it is prescribed only for acne. The instructions with the pills say clearly that those on this pill should be on other non-hormonal forms of birth control eg condoms and to not use any other birth control pill while on diane 35.  more information here: chealth.canoe.com/drug/getdrug/Diane-35
