Brain Tumor

Im new here..my name is Inny. After three years of undiagnosed symptoms I went to a nuerologist. He diagnosed me with autonomic nueropathy and he said he is leaning towards a brain tumor/mass. This man is one of the best in his field and works at a large teaching hospital that takes the most critical of patients from all other hospitals. He sees so many patients that it took over two months to get an appointment so he knows what he is doing. Anyway..im in shock. I never would have thought Id have a brain tumor..in fact...it wasnt even on my mind. I know this doctor would not have told me this if he really wasnt sure. I dont know what to think..Ive had symptoms for three years. Apparently I have the correct symptoms. But youd think id be dead with a tumor in my brain for 3 years. Who knows..im just stunned...cancer runs very thickly in my family..everyone has passed from it..and its alot of people..i guess im scared..i guess im looking for support in this forumn..and im hoping someone can say no its impossible you can have a tumor in your brain for three years without dying or it is possible and this is why...(your answer ). I do have many symptoms and issues and I have been getting worse but anyway...im sorry for mumbling and grumbling on and on and on...im scared.

I am sorry about your history - I have lost my dad and uncle to brain cancer and have a cousin currently battling brain cancer. So I may understand a little.

Let us know the results of your tests. I hope all turns out better than expected.

Im going to be recieving an MRI and a another test (i forget the name) to test how bad the nueropathy is. Im not jumping to any conclusions thank you. He was the one who mentioned the brain tumor and Ms. Im just trying to figure out his thought process. If you knew the kind of background of cancer history in my family (all very painful and sad deaths) you wouldnt blame me for being alittle worried. I have a one year old son that Id like to be able to watch grow up and I have to worry about him. Both MS and tumors are not exactly wonderful diagnoses and he said he is very sure i have one or the other. Im just trying to figure out if it would even be possible for a brain tumor. Thank you for your insight.

I would hope that you now will get some scans and some other testing to confirm if you do or do not have a mass.

Some cancers can be very slow growing. It all depends on the type. It also could be a large benign mass and it could be mass effect symptoms.

Wait until all the testing is in before you jump to conclusions.
