Oh, and loved he is. He is also the most loving cat ever. People say that strays don't make good pets, but he would prove them so wrong. He also got a little spoiled after the accident. My husband would leave the TV on if we were not going to be home, so Riley would have company. And he knows when our older daughter comes home he will be allowed in her room , on her bed, pretty well wherever he wants. Don't even talk about the guilt! I still haven't told our younger daughter all the details of what happened, because she would still be upset to this day. Sometimes I have to catch myself, because I told little white lies at the time.
Triley!
I have just one thing to say: It's a good thing cats don't have self-esteem issues!
:-)
(I'm giving you permission: you can let go of the guilt now. It's been more than 9 years and he's been loved all this time, a deal not every cat gets.)
Our almost 10 year old cat came to us as a stray kitten, born under our deck to a wild mother. We caught the 4 kittens in a live trap to save them from the wild life of their mother. We found homes for all of them, and did this many more times as we could not catch the mother. She was too smart to get caught in the live trap. Anyway, we called him Riley. Unfortunately when he was about 6 months old I accidently ran over him, and he had to have his right back leg removed. He soon was called Triley, or Tripod, but I still call him Riley.
Just saw this and couldn't resist = )
We have a 23 yr old cat named Pond Scum; nicknamed The Old Man
A gray striped tabby named Icepick (he likes mice)
A black and white cat named Anakin; nicknamed Ugh or the Ugholator
PS: One of our dogs has a favorite toy - a cat toy named Snake
I wouldn't like this to get out, but dogs seem to respond well to bullying. Yell at them, and they'll grovel and bit and devotedly lick your hand. And the way they watch you, struggling to figure out what you want before you say it, before you even KNOW it!
Is it any wonder that cats hold dogs in contempt?
That's interesting. The parents of the kid who carpools with us are from Russia, and his name is Misha. I understand from them that it is Michael. Which is also a boy name, I suppose, until Michael Learned.
But my daughter's name is Ethan, so what do I know?
(We had a "Mouse" once, the runt of a feral litter we brought in and placed in homes. She stayed small, minute, and the mom and daughter who took her home liked that she fit so neatly in their laps.)
