Ehlers-Danlos has a few types we can have and one is vascular and can affect the heart....as can the condition of POTS...and these are Chiari related conditions..,,..,it is best to rule out ALL related conditions as they can and will affect how you feel and heal should you go forward with surgery for the Chiari....
Always look to your families medical history for heart issues and deff rule it out.
Don't rule out heart disease, CTD/MCTD's can cause arterial damage and escalate Coronary Artery Disease. Since they are a known causation for Chiari it is definitely something to be aware of.
I have that same problem! I used to go to the back cracker guy (sorry can't remember the name right now) and he would have to hammer my ribs back in twice a week. He thought it was Tietze too. They kept popping out no matter how many times he put them back in though. Did the whole charade in finding out if it was a heart problem... found out its EDs, and I think you should definitely look down that avenue. It will bring you a lot more understanding. :) Plus learn how to pop your back on your own.
Hi-Stacey-Have-you-had-Ehlers-Danlos-ruled-out?
Many-with-Chiari-also-have-EDS-and-they-then-can-have-costochondritis-and-it-is-painful.I-understand-it-is-another-name-for-Tietzes-syndrome.
In-the-past-I-know-it-had-been-a-topic-of-several-threads-here-and-I-think-it-may-be-more-connective-tissue-related-then-autoimmune.,not-sure-tho.
I-do-get-rib-pain-too-in-fact-my-ribs-pop-out-of-joint-so-I-do-understand-how-you-feel-I-never-got-the-DX-of-Tietzes-and-told-mine-was-EDS.
