i need some advice off someone whos been through this

i am currently in hospital and have just been diagnosed with chiari and also have had a small bleed and have weaked blood vessels. what i need to know truthfully is how long does recovery take from the op which iv been told i need and am i going to be able to care for 2 children with slight special needs as i am a single mum. any advice would be great thanks.

i've been in hospital several times more as my oxygen keeps dropping dangerously low so they have moved my surgery now to next week as i'm deteriorating fast the surgieon said :( thank you all for your advice i'm just going to take things easy and let my body guide me now, i have moved closer to my family so that i can have support and so i can have help to look after my sons.

  So glad u r out of the hospital....

  As for recovery...do u mean from chiari surgery.,,,,if so, be patient and listen to ur body it can take some time to heal.Hang in there : )

hi well they finally let me out of hospital i ended up back after being allergic to some medication but sorted with new ones and feeling great now :) i have a appointment with the neurosurgeon in may to sort out an op just hope it doesnt take long to recover :) xx

thank you for you're well wishes i'm hoping to know more on tuesday. i do have a great family but we live in different cities/towns so its very difficult i think i may move closer to them tho xx

hi im not really sure just yet i have had bloods mri and ct scans done they want another mri done before even thinking of letting me go. i dont really know alot to be honest they have just said that i could have a anurism, sorry i'm rubbish at spelling lol, so they wony let me go just yet i will know more next week. xx

So sorry to hear this is how you found out you had Chairi, but as SelmaS said it sounds like you have more going on with the weakened blood.  I wish you the best and I would ask for a flow study done to find out what is going on in the hole spinal.  Wish you the best, and I pray that you have family that will help with the children.  Let us know how you are doing and what the Dr. has to say.  Wish you the best.

  Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We are all different and it seems u may have another issue going on, was this  an emergency issue that u r in the hospital and found this ....and r they going to so the surgery soon?

I would want to know a bit more about the weakened blood vessels and  make sure that is dx'd ...and also rule out related conditions to Chiari .
