I've been to the drawing board a few times too....just hang in there....I am sure you will find the right Dr for you.
Only a hand full with Chiari have tried it with mixed results....as I say it really depends on ALL other related conditions.
Wish I had more positive input.
Sorry no....wish I could offer more help on this..but do keep us posted....prayers everything works out.
It is hard to say what will work until you know what all he is being affected by......
I do not blame him for being fed up...I know how frustrating it can be....
Wish I had more info for you.
Did you review the Ann Conroy Trust list of Drs names?
Aww I am so sorry to hear this.....his Dr is wrong, vertigo can be due to Chiari.....
I am glad he is home.....how is he feeling now?
It is possible he is having vertigo...that is when you can have the sensation of everything around you moving....ask him if that is how it feels....
Good...who do you have in mind for the 2nd opinion??
It is possible it is Chiari II BUT that should have been noticed b4 now..notice I said should have.
Look to what he is doing b4 the dizzy spells it could be his activities.....
There are not too many Drs well informed and or experienced with Chiari and the Dr that said spina bifida was half right since they are related conditions and in the same family. But SB refers to an opening to the spine that does not close BUT it is possible for it to close and still have SB .
The length of herniation is not what causes the problems....and the herniation's can be less then 5mm's and cause a lot of symptoms....so do find a true Chiari specialist to help you with his MRI''s and other tests.
It is possible to have a syrinx a cyst that fills with CSF fluid due to an obstruction to CSF flow....and they can resolve on their own......
Do you know what type of cysts he had on the brain and what was done to remove them?
Do you have names of true Chiari specialists?
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
First, Chiari is the malformation of the skull....the cerebral tonsils herniate as a result HOWEVER many Drs only look at the herniation to determine Chiari....some say at 5mm's it is...BUT it can be low lying tonsils as a result of an injury....but regardless if it is either it is treated the same, the symptoms are the same.
May I ask what symptoms your son is having that lead to the MRI?
