Sometimes I seriously don't believe doctors are actually doctors!

so today i went to a different neurologist, and she said my chiari was 5mm, so she goes you don't have chiari...and im like um yes i do shes like no u dont and this went on for a while  lol...ughh she wanted to start me on an anti depressant ! yeah, not happening..my mom said no. she goes your headaches are from stress, i go I DONT have any stress, im only 16..and im very happy, so i go if you think i dont have chiari then why do i have all the other symptoms and shes like uhhhhh i dont know...well im not going to her anymore, thats for sure, i dont know what to do anymore...some of these doctors dont know what there talking about! its getting ridiculous. then i was so mad about this appointment, i was getting up from the chair and wacked my head on the top of the drs desk...it hurt sooo bad i like screamed haha...she was like OHHHMYGODD are you ok...im like no. but yeah, my moms trying to get an appointment with another neurosurgeon...but hes really busy but were going in the near future so i hope it goes well

Most of us can relate. Sorry you have to see these quackers for what they are at such a young age though. I refer to it this way IMO " They are all Quacks!' Why? Well any man who thinks he can play God, really. So I figure them as a nessasary evil. Thus when you go just figure your opening a new box of 'Quacker Jacks' the prize you get inside sometimes wasn't worth the price of the box. Other times it's pretty cool. [Hummm... may have dated myself there...] I've always been tempted to take a box of Cracker Jacks with me to the drs office just so when they turn out to be a Quack I could present them with their prize... but then they may just say I'm stressed out, depressed and here take these meds! :-)  Really, sorry you had such a bad experience. In reality though, brace yourself as it may not be the last time a lot of Docs just really do not understand what's going on with Chiari.

For example, my NS is a Chiari dr, yet when I called them about an itching problem couple mos back was told that it's not Chiari related that I must have developed an alergy to Latex gloves. Hello! I'd not been around an latex gloves. So now they say it's got to be a new med. Hello again no new meds! Well, the other day [not feeling to great, tremors bad, so don't think I responded] but a member here remarked about itching and described the same symptoms that I've had for the last couple mos. Nah, the good Docs keep trying, but you have to advocate for yourself with this thing called Chiari. Take Care of You. Hope your new visit goes better.

Hi,
I am so sorry you had to go through all that.It is so frustrating to have to deal with people who do not understand what is going on. I am not sure how far you want to travel to see a chiari specialist.There is a good doctor my daughter sees in Delaware. If you want i could send you his number. Maybe they would let you send any reports you have to see if they can help you.
I wish you the best.I hope you get some answers real soon or should I say I hope you get someone who knows what they are talking about.
