MRI Results, Can Someone please Explain....

I just had an MRI done yesterday and here are the impressions, can someone please explain in layman's terms? 1. No significant change or acute intracranial abnormality. 5 mm right frontal white matter T2 hyperintensity, with a few additional punctate foci, stable since 2012, nonspecific but likely chronic gliosis from remote insult.  2. Mild cerebellar tonsillar ectopia is likely incidental. It does not meet typical criteria for Chiari 1 and no secondary findings to suggest CSF hypovolemia.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

May I ask what symptoms you had that the MRI was done and it appears one was also done in 2012 since it sounds like one from them was compare to this one,,,,,,,

The only thing I will say for sure is get copies of both MRI's and get a 2nd opinion......

Many Drs and radiologists are not aware of what constitutes Chiari...and they may refer it to mild cerebral tonsillar ectopia.....Drs that study and focus their practice on Chiari and related conditions.
