Yes, my thoughts exactly. the other day I spent considerable time searching that paper and found several articles. One fairly positive, the rest all negative. Reminded me of Huricane Charlie, when he first came in towards Fort Myers, Cape Coral area we were very tense as my sister lives there so we where watching everthing on available web came news casts. At one point the reporter, from a helicoper over punta gorda, stated that they where 'piling up bodies' by the trailer court. NOT one word of that report was true other than that Punta Gorda got slammed. Kinda makes me wonder what the whole picture is with TCI. Doctors are imperfect me. They will make mistakes on us, no question about it. We have to weigh their good against their bad cases and figure in the imperfect state of the human patient they are working with. Kind of hard to do with a 'rag' quoting only the negative [and one-sided at that] view of select cases.

I agree...but as we know our version of society is about capitalism. This in turn makes us vunerable is our weakest moments for someone stronger to step in and skew our opinions about a situation.

In this case one that pulls at heart strings...let me explain....

Ok with that said, I am a mother and I feel terribly that someones child has seem to have lost thier future. But is that really so? People with disabilities do all kinds of amazing things everyday. There is a plan for us all you just have to open your eyes and hearts.

I can not imagine my child having to go thru any of this, but I believe she may be showing some mild symptoms now....hope not though....going to take her to the dr after I get back. I will be angry/upset/sad/confused ect...  BUT, I will take the information I have and do the same for my daughter that I would do for myself and find her the best care I can for the situation.

As for  malpractice lawyers, I think they should be examined very carefully. How many lawsuits do they file? Is this thier main type of cases? If so, why do they seek to destroy so many of the medical community that so thier best to help us. What lawyers do to doctors directly effects our healthcare costs. How some may ask.....when a doctors practices anywhere they are required to have malpractice insurance, $1000's a year in premiums, and when the insurance pays, costs go up. Now, who pays for the increase???? US! So people should evaluate why they are going to sue....are they just grieving for $ or is it sincere? Did they really weigh the risks vs benefits or just listen to half of what the doctor said....gotta wonder?!?

Well put. I guess what's been going through my mind right now is the complete and total lack of coupability and or reliabiliaty from the medical comunity in geneneral. Personally, I've always kept copies of my own records and questioned the docs etc no free rides and pill taken unless they can tell me "ok we found this and this pill if for this problem". With Chiari it seems to change all the rules. I can't seem to find much reliable information to read other than a couple of web sites. The best, most informative, information seems to be coming from asking questions here and reading past postings on these forums.
The unsettling part is to see these 'gold diggers' taking the few Dr's who are willing to do the research and try to help us and destroy things. Granted, I know going in just as I am imperfect and my body is so are the Dr's and there could be mistakes. But man, so long as he/she has done there best....

Well, I look at this way.....We as adults have a responsibility to educate ourselves with the information we need to make decisions that will have major impacts on our lives. To do this we spend hours in research tools available to us. The only disagreement I have is that pediatric patients are very different from adults. Why?....thier bodies still have so many changes to go through and generally are not ready for such major surgies, i feel, unless the situation is life threatning....well why do it until they stop growing.

BUT...this is called "the PRACTICE of medicine" it is a science, not facts until proven. This takes years. And just because a few are unhappy and feel the need to goto the money hungry, gold digging lawyer in NJ who seems to specialize in malpractice suits, another cause of insurance fraud and high costs, they may be that minority or small % of the risk vs benefits of ANY surgical procedure.

To sum this up, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH and get MULTIPLE OPINIONS!!!! I know from my own hours of research, this conditions is fairly new since the development of MRIs. So look at the few documented reports and you will see this condition is still only about 20yrs old. unless coincidently found upon autopsy. Study MRI films to know what is  considered "normal" so when you look at yours you can see the difference for yourself. Be proactive, challenge the doctor, if he is an A** about it, go somewhere else and know that it is your life and your body...not thiers!!!

So I leave with this thought...don't blame others for your own ignorance, research and document, and make the decision that is best for you or your child at the time and remember that NOTHING in life is 100% and be willing to accept the risks. Do the best with what god gave you! YOU and only you are your best patient advocate!

As for the TCI Drs....yes i think they have some reorganization needed, but I still respect thier OPINIONS.....and will take them and make my own decision(s) after I have been seen on the 14 and 18th of this month.

I'm confused by this... I've been reading since the shift in leadership as that was about the time of my dx. All the hoopla and disagreement in the 'professional' community is rather unsettling when your the one[s] setting here looking for answers from them for some pretty serious symptoms.
