Is a good idea to perform a Chiari decompression on a 5 year old?

I need help. My daughter's chiari decompression surgery is scheduled in one more week but I've been reading a lot of testimonials about a lot of complications after the surgery. My daughter is 5 years old but she has speech problems. She cant fully communicate like a kid of her age. I dont know.if we should just do the surgery or wait until shes older. However im.afraid she'll start showing symptoms since i dont know if shes in any pain right now or if her  will get worse if we don't act quick.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I can not say if she should have surgery or not...but have a few questions for you....

Outside of her communication issues what was the reason for the MRI that found her Chiari? And does she have a CSF obstruction , syrinx or any other related condition?

Lastly,, is the Dr a true Chiari specialist?
