So frustrating...I'm sorry he wasn't more helpful.
Like Selma said...you just have to keep looking until you will find someone who will listen. Having Chiari requires a huge amount of patience and never ending dead ends as I keep finding out. All we can do is pick ourselves back up and go at it again. Hopefully you can see a different doctor that will give you another opinon.

well, I am sure he believes what he told u, but since none of us had that surgery ...how do u think he may explain all of us getting those symptoms as well?
This is all unknown territory and even the drs do not know and will base many of their opinions....yes I said opinions on what they feel it could be....so it is not concrete proof or a deffinate answer, just what that one dr felt....u know the drs r practicing until they get it right : )

Well that dr appointment was a big ole waste of my time!!! According to him....NONE of my symptoms are from my Chiari!!! There is no lump on my head just tension AND all my neurological symptoms are from my first brain surgery which was for Cavernous Angioma!
Sensory seizures and nerve damage.....he gave me Tegretol!!!
UGH!!!
I have not had the surgery yet but have the hyper goosebumps on my right side!!! Some days it happens all day long and drives me crazy, happily though at least it does not hurt! It started with just the top of my right leg and now can hit all down my right side! Lots of strange things!!! It is so nice to find people to laugh about it all with.
We're not weirdos, it's everyone else that is! LOL!
Well I'll ask Neuro tomorrow and I'll post any answers he has for that, if any!
I am so glad to hear that someone else is like me too!! I find it really weird...and I almost try not to set them off b/c it's so annoying!!
Maybe we're all weirdos...lol... :)
Glad to hear I'm not the only one! I did have the typical numbness of the scalp after both my surgeries, which feels odd in itself.
But when I started getting what feels like goosebumps across one side that comes and goes so quickly....that felt totally different then the typical numbness!
Oh my gosh Carolyn! So funny that you said that :) That is EXACTLY what happens to me. I think my goosebumps are in hyperdrive! Before surgery, it was similar, but seems more strong now, and overwhelming. Maybe I was distracted by the pain that accompanied it before my surgery, I don't know. Whatever it is, it absolutely makes me pause a moment and takes a while to shake off. So funny! I should know better than to think that I'm a weird-o! Someone else here is bound to have the same issue :)

Hi,
I had the numbness and tingling on the left side of my head, scalp and neck area for about 6 months post op.. Hopefully it will decrease in time for you as your body adjusts and heals. Its an annoying feeling though!
Goodluck,
Michelle
I get the wave of chills and goosebumps too but they pretty much take over my whole body and sometimes it's almost painful the way they tingle.... It is set off by the normal goosebump feeling..like when I like a song or something but it goes kind of hyper and is triggered by just a little emotion or thought...it's really weird..
I had that before surgery so I don't know if it is nerves healing for me but b/c it is new for you..it certainly could be. I know that I've had a bunch of other weird things go on that I am sure is those nerves sparking to life :)
Carolyn
Hi...yes I do get what I say feels like a wave of chills that moves over one side of my head....in the day they'd cal it a "rush"....so I guess it is like that....very weird....it started with my head, but now I even get it on my leg..back...where ever it wants I guess....I am closer to my 1 yr Annv...end of May !! Wow that went faster than I thought it would....but keep in mind I still have a few unresolved issues going on...so U really shouldn't go by me.
I am sure it is a normal healing process....but at ur next post op...ask the dr to be sure.

I have that and sharp shooting nerve pain. My mom said this happened to her with her affected nerves after neck surgery. Unexpected numbness and also unexpected sharp pains. She said her doc said it was the nerves healing. I'm only 2 months post-op, so I definitely can't see ahead of YOU :) But for my mom it got better. My dad also warned me about scar tissue, so if you are prone (as he is) to growing scar tissue after surgery, you may want to have it checked out -- as it grows it can affect your nerves, but not sure if it happens that soon after surgery!
Take care and hang in there!
