weather/ hiya

Hi there my friends. Since wednesday I have had a SEVERE sinus infection, or so I thought. Most of you already know I live in New Orleans, well we are preparing for TS ISSAC, or expected huricane issac within 34 hrs. So we all know that weather affects us, now I know how a hurricane threating feels post decompression....well...NOT GOOD...on top of this awful sinus infection I have the worst pressure going on, so much that my inner ears are literally hurting and burning like someone is poking them with ice picks. YUCK !!It is very hard to prepare your family when you feel like this. I mean I still feel better than I did preop but this pressure from the approaching storm is bad !!! Other than that I have been doing pretty well. Coaching my little cheerleaders is a challenge, but not bnecause of the chiari, because of the parents and the amount of girls I have. I have 30 beautiful cheerleaders between the ages of 4-12....LOL. I MUST BE CRAZY !!! I am having a blast with them though, and I have two assistant coaches that are helping lots, so I don't have to do any of the jumps or moves that could hirt me, but being able to coreograph these girls is soooo much fun :)  Both of my boys are also playing football, so basically we LIVE at the park monday thru friday...hehe. My internet has been down so I have not been able to pop on, but I wanted to say hi and to let you all know that I am thinking and praying for your all !!! Lots of love and hugs my chiari family.

we are now without power, so this is probably my last post for a while. we are still safe and doing fine. winds are at about 65 mph. I love you all and hope that you are all safe and doing well. Selma, my dr told me to take an anihistamene, so I have been on one for a  few days. It does help, but cant take a pm right now, have to be alert to the weather. Take care and I will talk to you all asap. Hugs and love my chiari family.

Something I found that seems to work since this last ER visit...I was told to take a antihistamine along with my pain meds...I only had ones that make me drowsy so I took b4 bed, and found I slept better, ,woke a bit more refreshed and this is helping my PND and my usual morning aches and pains....this is after I stopped the pain meds, I continued with the antihistamines as I wanted and needed the sleep....ne way I feel a diff even when it is going to rain.....so if u do not take these, do ask ur Dr b4 trying....but this is working for me.

As the storm approaches....my head sure does feel it. GOOD LORD help my head, this is hell. The storm should be making its landfall within the next 2-3 hours. So far we still have lights and water, so I will try and post as long as I can. Pray for some relief for my head please. Geesh, I have never felt pressure like this. Hope my gulf coast chiari family is feeling better than I and fairing the storm well. Loves

Praying for ya'll down there! I'm hoping it looses some gust as it gets closer!  I dont think I saw, or overlooked it, are you on antibiotics for the sinus infection?  Severe sinus infections are a HOT button for me as they believe thats what caused my meningitis and Dx of Chiari...I had to go on 3 different ones before my body responded...if not, please be sure to get to a Dr. as soon as its safe to do so!
Watching the updates and keeping the south close to my prayers! Keep us posted!

Melody, I was never this sensitive until post op either. I am in River Ridge, which is about 7 minutes from downtown NEw Orleans. We are already getting the winds. IT will be rough, but I have been through worse. I guess you could sa ywe are as close as it gets. They expect us to be in the eye wall. We are watching BOB BRECK, and he said he thinks it is safe to bunker down and ride it out as long as your not out and about and stay indoors, so I think we will lose power, and it will gets lots of howling winds and dumping rains. I will keep yall updated as it  gets closer until we lose power, but hopefully that will be a while from now. Ugh...It just started to rain here, and  I believe we are seeing what is called the calm before the storm. I however can;t believe it is hitting us on the anniversary of katrina. That just blows my mind. Hope all of my coastal chiarians stay safe through all of this. Don't forget to fill up your bath tubs and dump your ice makers, and turn your fridges and freezers to their highest settings.
Love and (((hugs)) to you all.

I am 100% miserable lately and I haven't been in much pain before. I'm in Youngsville, which is south of Lafayette. I don't remember being THIS sensitive to weather changes. My second surgery was in April, so maybe it's because it's not completely healed.

I definitely understand the pressures of trying to prepare when you feel like crud! Lafayette has gone mad! Gas, water and propane are running out. We are in a good area and have retention ponds in our neighborhood (one is in my backyard) so we shouldn't flood!

I hope everyone stays safe and starts to feel better soon! We only have 2 more days! :)

I have been through many as well! I am glad the neighborhood is on the prowl! Lol!  I know the feeling with trying to keep little ones occupied and unafraid! After the tornado in 2007 here he has been a handful when it comes to bad weather! I had to hide my weather radio so he couldn't hear it if it goes off! That thing changed all our lives forever!
We will be playing some games, and doing homework...I will be at school with him tomorrow...It will not be easy but it eases his mind for me to be there so that's where I will be!
Love and prayers to you and all that are in the path of this storm!

I am not as worried as most. My home survived katrina with light limb damage only...no water, so I feel confident that we will be fine. Generator is ready and everything outside is all in my shed or in the garage so that leaves  nothing to fly around. I also have great neighbors and they are all prepared and are ready to bunker down. watch out...they  neighborhood is on the prowl....lol. I am so glad that you are on safe ground as well. I have lived through hurricanes andrew, ivan, rita, katrina, and gustav, and those were much worse than this one is supposed to be, So I am confident we will be ok. My biggest concern is keeping these three munchkins occupied and keeping them from being afraid. Loves and prayers to you all !!

After a VERY long day of hurricane preperations, I'M STILL NOT DONE !! There is just so much to do and now this stupid storm is heading straight for me. We aren;t evacuating though. We are staying put. I am in a high spot thank goodness, but trying to find gas...even last night was hard to do. Issac is slowly but surely getting stronger and slowing down, which I am not confident the pumps can keep up with. Trying hard to get everything done, but I am so done and tired. They made my hubby work today so it is on me to pull the outside together. Roads in fromt of my house are all jammed with people running, and it s a good thing I got all of stuff together last night as far as food and water, because there is none to be found now. Anyone, just wanted to update everyone. The winds are just starting to pick up and it isnt much, but by tonight we should have a good bit more winds. I have to go finish securing everything that could blow away, but I don;t know how long I will have power so I wanted to say hi. I will keep you all posted, and hope that you are all safe. I think this storm is mroe dangerous than they are leading us to believe. Best wishes to all of you battling the storm and or chiari, neither are fun, but they are worse together.

Glad to hear that you are mostly doing well!
I find that here in NC, the mold is pretty bad, & affects sinuses, etc.  Then add atmospheric pressure to that.
I presume you are always prepared for hurricanes.  I always have hurricane food (previously known as blizzard food, lol)!

Awe, ty all so much, and best of luck to you and your famalies as well. Didn;t realize you guys were so close to me. I pray it  turns away from all of us and just dies. I sure don;t like the looks of this thing though. It just keeps putting those lines right in new orleans. GRRR. At least they closed the schools. Makes things easier to prepare....knowing they are here safe with me. I have family in bama and mississippi and I am just not liking any of the results that could happen for any of us. Take care and you guys are in my prayers.
