Anyone else.?

This is kinda a girl question...but after anyone's  surgery did your period gets like 10x more painful?
Before surgery my period was tolerable and it barely caused me distraction...now like the first 3 days are terrible pain where i dont wanna do anything but stay in a hot bath tub...It's really bad...

i'm so very sorry you have to go thru all this at such a young age...it stinks at any age but is so very much harder when you're young.stress can mess the monthly monster up pretty good, honey, as can thyroid issues.  just try not to think about any of it.  after all, non of your worrying can change any of the outcomes, so why put yourself thru it?  just let nature take it's course and try to relax.  maybe a nice warm bath or two to losen you up will help take the edge off.....
wish i could be more help...

My surgery was 7 months ago. I'm a week late this week which isnt normal...but I am very stressed. They just recently found cysts on my thyroid... which could screw up my hormone level...so maybe its a combination of the two.? Idk... I'm just hopeing things'll clear up soon. ):
Being 16 and this sick is soo tough.

hi.

my surgery was 10/1 and the only 'problem' i had was that i was late!  which was to be expected as my body had gone through a tough surgery.

hopefully it will change soon - if not - talk to your doctor!

I know this probably isn't what you are looking for but I had an endometrial ablation and it was the best thing I have ever done. Really simple procedure. Basically what it is they scrap the lining of your uterus out. Then you no longer have a period. You still have all the hormones so you don't have to take any medicine like with a  hysterectomy. I had mine down in May of this year because my periods were horrible. And now nothing. It has been one of the greatest things I have ever done. NO more craps, bleeding anything like that. Very nice. Just thougth I would give the suggestion.

seems like im the only one that can give you an answer to this one......ladies ladies....the poor thing is turning into a raisin by living in her bathtub for days!!!

post op 9 months and i cannot recall my cramps being any worse or better than pre-op
it pretty much is what it is. maybe there is a nerve that was messed with that effects that "region"....i guess anything is possible. sorry i cant relate on the painful cramp level but boy would i LOVE a hot bath for even 5 minutes without someone barging through the door with a completely pointless thought or question that they just HAD to ask or share with me in those moments.

my advice......enjoy the tubs.....midol exrta strength works for me when i need it......talk to your OBGYN. Maybe they'll shed some light

Hi..well I hadn't had a monthly in over 10 yrs so I can not say nething about post op, but I always had the first 3 days  of a very painful monthly....as it got better, I found I was already in menopause....at 36!!!

Do go to ur OBGYN and do have ur hormone levels checked as mine never did  and I went thru the change way too early.....

See ur dr.

could be either...but my doc told me the same thing...mostly because of my age when i started though, but tests where all negative too.  but all they symptoms were there, i stuck to my guns and sure enough, a few months down the road and a few more test later it showed up in the blood work.  but hey...we're all different and as we know, there is no norm with chiari!  lol!  nice to see i'm not the only one who can't sleep tonight!  lol

I usually do feel like the odd man out...  I'm 46 (holy cow, 47 this coming December).  I thought some of my symptoms were maybe "peri-menopausal", and hoping to get past a long history of obnoxiously rude and uncomfortable cycles.

I NEVER get hot flashes during the daytime.  But, at least a few times per week I wake up sweating like a pig in the middle of the night (sometimes several times in a night).  I was settling in to accept "peri-menopause", but then I had the full run of blood tests a couple of weeks ago... and my pcp told me I'm "nowhere near menopause".  Huh...?

What the heck... chiari or peri-menopause?

Ugh - i hope I hurry up and go through menopause and be done with this mess of having a period for no reason. I KNOW I will not have anymore  children, I don't see why I need a period LOL! Mine too are horrible, never bothered me untill after my son was born (pergnancy history - pregnancy and termination at 15 - don't hate me for that - I was 15 and didn't know how to tell my mother NO - pregnant w/ twins at 19, miscarried - see - what goes around comes around- then had my daughter, then my son) my period progressivly has gotten worse since then. I had him when I was 22, now I am 30, and I just had the surgery in july, and I have to say yes, it is worse. Not to be all TMI, but right now I am on my period and mind you I am still taking vicodin and morephine and diazapam AND I AM STILL HURTING AND FEELING MISERABLE! Imagine if I wasn't taking anything! Who knows with this weird Chiari.

i'm no help either, as i went thru menopause at 39...sorry!  but things did get a little rough, just like you are all describing right before it stopped all together.  so if you want to have more kids, better get to it!  lol!  female chiarians, as a rule, do tend to go thru menopause at a much earlier age than most!

Like thieb9 I have not had surgery but my symptoms always escalate when my period is due, pain intensifies all over, I get huge cognition difficulties and find any task hard to concentrate on, balance gets worse.

These all start at least 5 days before im due and my cycles are rubbish can go anywhere from 19-23 days never go a full 28 and they last 10 days at a time.

I haven't had surgery yet but I hope not! Mine was always bad. Then after my first child it was better, no more cramps, shorter time. Then after my 2nd it was worse than ever! I thought after my 3rd time being pregnant it would go back to being better. Sorry my answer isn't really too relevant to the question, but I'm having surgery thurday, and I really hope mine doesn't get worse!
