Tethered cord

I am having the decompression surgery in December and my neurosurgeon thinks I might need the tethered cord surgery too. Does anyone have any information on the surgery? I was wondering how long the surgery is, how long recovery is, and what the symptoms are.

Sorry..PFD = Posterior Fossa Decompression.

Yes I had the PFD and the urodynamic testing which showed I had some problems with my bladder.....I am sure if u r going to TCI and they feel u have TC, u will be getting the UD test as well.

Hi...I also go to TCI and was told I have TC. I was scheduled for the surgery, but then they reviewed my chart and did the PFD instead.

The incesion is on the lower back at the lumbar spine and they release the cord from the column.....

I know bowel and bladder issues are common as well as leg and lower back pain.With the legs u can feel weak like they can no longer hold u up.
Dr I at TCI told me if the TC was really bad, I would know in the early stages after  the PFD....when I go back in Dec for my check up, I will find out if they feel the TC surgery is still needed.

Did u have the urodynamics testing?
Do u have bladder issues?
