Can these be symptoms of Chiari also ????

Hello.  My daughter has had her surgery for Chiari and since then I have been having a lot of the same issues mixed in with a lot of other odd symptoms that are just throwing my whole body out of whack!    We both sit here and laugh and have to hold the back of our heads til we almost cry it hurts so bad    The dizziness, Confusion extreme fatigue, not being able to pull ourselves awake at times.   That’s all the same.    But I’m addition I just was hospitalized for several days for bad chest pains and breathing problems.   These happens in like 5-10 minute attacks    But they can find nothing wrong (yet refused to do an MRI only wanted to do CT but of course Chiari doesn’t always show on that and they weren’t looking for that but a stroke instead) as I was also slurring and confused when I got to hospital.  Also I was very weak on one side of my body.   And now a week later my hormones are going craZy.  I am menopausal.  Have been for over 5 years.   Today I started having a period but been feeling it coming on last couple days.   Has anyone dealt with this with Chiari ? I don’t know if this can be caused by it ??? Or my other things listed above from my hospital stay.   They just keep trying to pump me with antibiotics and don’t want to heat that I have Chiari too.   But I read a mri report of mine from a car accident 3 years ago and it says in the report itself Chiari malformation.   Why don’t docs and hospitals want to hear you when you tell them ?    It’s so frustrating!!!!!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

It is possible you have a related condition like POTS...or Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.....
Unfortunately, not all Drs are well informed on Chiari and related conditions.....so you will need to locate a true Chiari specialist.....there are Drs that will do the surgery, but they do not look to related conditions which could affect how you do post op...so do make sure you have a Dr that is well informed and experienced with Chiari and ALL related conditions.
