dried blood still on incision 1 month post-op

I still have quite a bit of dried blood on my incision (I had dissolvable stitches) and it is almost 1 month post-op. I have not gotten a really good look at my entire scar yet because of this. My hair is growing back, too.

I was originally thinking of it as a scab-- and one should never pick at a scab, so that is why I've left it alone. But I don't think it's a scab and really think it's just dried blood.

Do you guys think I should get it more wet in the shower so that it "loosens" up? Or should I use a washcloth and moisten it that way? Or should I just leave it alone?

No, I don't believe I have EDS. Sometimes I do feel like it's "wet" in certain areas. Sticky. My husband took a look at it and said it was still looking like a scab.

Hi....I had this issue but it was not all dry blood....read my journal,. I called it oozing....but I would feel wet and dab a tissue and get small dots of blood.....

Bcuz I have EDS I had sterri strips and am slower to heal...I had it checked and it was not infected and to keep it that way I had a topical antibiotic ointment to put on it.

I would leave it alone...the more u get it wet, the more the skin dries out and pulls...which could be y u have this.....

  DO u also have EDS?

Yeah they were surprised the steri-strip was still on 1 month post-op. After my post-op follow-up when they removed the dressing, they said the steri strip should fall off within a week. haha. I will ask my nurse.. and will look at Krystal's pictures.

I don't want to tell you wrong because I a staples.  If I remember right you still had it covered till a couple days ago.  Is that right?  I would just ask the Dr to be safe.  I thought th they were surprised you kept it covered so long but I cold be confused.  I have No blood at this point.  You could look at deadmemory (Krystal) photos too.  She had stitches and not staples and also surgery1 day after you.  I would bet you are right....just unsure with the covering.
