Hello, I also have symptoms only on my right side. My MRI shows that the tonsils are sitting on my spinal cord and that it is predominantly on the right side which my NS explained it is the reason why he believes the chiari is causing my problems. I see two specialists next week so hopefully I will get some help. Best of luck
Hello - I'm brand new here. Most of my pain is on the left side of my body. From the top of my head to the sole of my left foot and everything in between radiates with pain, has numbness and tinging. Sometimes it will switch over to the right side for a very brief time and usually is not as intense. My doctor also told me it depends on the nerves that are being hit at any given time. I have chiari 1 and syingomyelia in my cervical spine. I was told about this 6 years ago but told at that time that it was not related to my symptoms. After about two dozen more specialists over 6 years and evidence of growth of the syringomyelia, I was just told a couple of weeks ago that this is the issue. Still reeling from the diagnosis a bit.
Hi...I use to have issues on just one side also, my Dr explained it all depends on what nerves are being impinged and what they affect....also, which of your tonsils is being constricted can also affect which side you have more symptoms on. For me it was my left side....so much so that when I would have vertigo, I could not look to my left...at work I had to get up and walk around my desk to retrieve things on the left side of my desk to avoid making the vertigo worse.
