Do you have trouble reading? That was my most obvious symptom...I couldn't read even a couple lines. Reading stuff online was impossible at first, then after a while I could only do it if I made the window real skinny...that way my eyes were moving more up and down than left to right. After vision therapy, I'm back to reading all the time but I feel the eye strain more than a normal person.
I don't know if all balance centers are similar, but the doctors at this one did a full work up to test what kind of movements (head, eye, body) would trigger symptoms. They also have these fancy goggles where they can see if you have a nystagmus...and I did. My quality of vision was fine, just eye movement was an issue.
ok...so how did u find out it was vision??? how do u notice ur issue?? i do have vision problems as well. thanks for ur answer
I went to a balance center for a few months. They can help you with a lot of exercises that teach your brain to compensate. I can't say whether or not it helped me because my main issue turned out to be vision...but they did help me a lot with that! So, if your insurance covers it, give it a try.
Hi...not sure if u were following the Wednesdays weight inn.....but we have exercises for the brain as well as the body...walking is the best thing for us and walking barefoot is helpful...as u can feel the ground underneath.....
Do try tossing a ball in the air and catching it with the opposite hand and things like that...I will continue to post ideas that should help us...I am getting all of the ideas from a Dr and relaying them to u all here...I asked for ideas for balance, strengthening, tone, and the Dr is well aware that we all have different limitations.....
So u may be able to do something better than me and vise versa, but I feel he is giving us well rounded things to try.
Thanks for ur answer.balance and vertigo can go together.if the body doesnt find its balance than the pictures u get is vertigo.i am quite sure this is my case.i will definetely tell this to my doctor when being given the results of follow up mri and also will ask about therapie.the **** thing about balance and vertigo is that u avoid movements which wont make it better.will keep u updated if i have news.thanxxx
Since I have the damage to the cerebellum my balance is really messed up, I tip over frequently. They told me the cerebellum would compensate like you say but so far I just can't get back to pre-damage days. I have been thinking of doing the balance games on the wii fit :) Not sure if it will help or if I will just fall over too much but could be worth a try! They told me to WALK, WALK, WALK... the more I would walk the more it would heal and compensate! Is your issue balance or vertigo? Spinning is usually vertigo?? That I would mention to a Dr. I would think balance therapy would help as long as it is just a balance issue and not vertigo. I don't know how much you can fix though because I am 5 months post op and still tipping over.... always was a clutz though! :)
