Is a PCP visit just a waste of time?

I have been having terrible dizziness, virtigo, and nausea related to it. Is there anything a regular dr could do to help me? Any meds for dizziness or nausea? I hate adding in any more meds, but I'm sick of eating as if I have the flu, and sick of feeling this way. Any ideas?

TTFN,
Jenn

Well, I had some regular Dramamine we'd used when flying back home cross-country with kids last year. Lol. It knocked out my toddler, like we'd hoped. I know, such a bad mom, but he was seriously awake for 27 hours straight with the exception of a 1 hour nap on the plane on the way there.

I took it before crashing for a nap. I napped great! Lol! It seems to help a little bit. I'm deffinately taking it, or getting some non-drowsy formula on bad days, and when we drive up to Lake Tahoe on Saturday. I get carsick just driving across town with this dizziness. Thanks for recommending it.

I got the vertigo turning in bed too...all b4 surgery...none since.
My herniation was not huge either 4 mm and 6 mm, plus over crowding....no flow.....U should appeal the decision to go to a specialist as the drs u have been to r not....u may be able to go out of network....if the network does not have a dr that is a specialist in this field.

It is worth trying : )

Good luck...be sure the Dramamine is non drowsy formula.....

No, I've not had surgery. Just found out about the chiari about a month ago. I'm trying to find a neurosurgeon. I'm stuck in the process of HMO referrals and such crud. The neurologist said my "incidental finding" of a 4-5 mm chiari can't possibly be causing my symptoms. Well, cluster headaches and migraines can't possibly be causing this dizziness, nausea, and virtigo every single day. BTW, it's clear as day on my MRI that my cerebellum is majorly crowded and cutting off CSF flow.

I'll try Dramamine. It's been just awful. Just waking up and trying to turn over in bed makes me sick; unbelievable dizziness and virtigo.  All I can do is sit in my recliner and try to entertain my 2 year old as best as I can. I've not been able to touch housework or anything for about a week, I've been so sick.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Jenn

Hi Jenn,

Sorry, I am not sure if I remember all ur history, but have u had surgery?....

If not, ur PCP may be able to offer some ideas......have u tried non drowsy Dramamine?....some members said it did help with dizziness and vertigo.

I am not sure there is ne thing for the nausea.....I still get it one in a while.....

Do u have a NL that is well informed on chiari?
