I know how u feel about the frustrations if getting back to normal. I was a runner and now I've demoted down to walking on my treadmill :(
Just a little helpful hint that I realized (from one over achiever to another) as far as abs go, I couldn't go the bending and lifting either but found I could do leg lifts. I'm most comfortable laying flat on my back (my physical therapist says its a non weight bearing position for the neck) and am able to tolerate the leg lifts for my abs. I've had 3 c-sections so I can't do sit ups or crunches easily anymore so leg lifts r my go-to for abs.
Try them out (at home first) an see if they don't work better for u...let me know if it does!
Feel better soon, Hun!!

Hi...how far post op r u?
I would not have even considered doing that for quite some time, in fact I would not do it now...as I was never one to enjoy exercise but sit ups always made me feel bad and as a child in gym class forced to do them...so I am reluctant to want to now...lol...but I am also older with other issues going on that prevent me as well,,,,but I would not do this for some time post op as it can take up to 2 yrs to heal inside....and u have to slowly add things ...I think ur body is saying it is too soon.
i know...its very frustrating and yes we try to hard and think we can go back to normal.u are not sooo long past surgery and really it needs so long to heal.dont give up...but we have to avoid things and learn to manage...i was a traveler, always outside...meeting people...and now am happy getting alon g 2 hrs with friends...but u will have better days and learn how to deal with it!!!!
