I think that as it a concern for you that you may want to run it by the Doctor to get some feedback, i know many children and adults do repetitive habits and come out okay but some input on that may be good from a professional..

yeah hes had little quirks all his life, like lining cars up and going mad if you remove one or slightly put one out of place ,
when i say talks i mean talks as a full blown conversation with himself and goes huh huh huh huh huh and when i ask him to stop it he,ll say i,m not doing it and make the noise again, he,ll sit on his knees and rock back and forth as he lays playing cards all around the mat whilst talkiing and going huh huh huh huh i asked the school recently because i saw him for the first time in assembly and he was doing it there and others was watching him do it, then it hit me he does this at home, the teacher said she'd seen him but was now used to it as its one of his quirks but now she would watch him properly, i mentioned it to a friend and they said yeah they'd seen him many times rocking back and forth
i,m more concerned with him going to senoir school the older kids there willl eat him alive

I agree some of what you say here sounds normal child behavior ,what kind of noises does he make , does he get on okay at school no problems there would upset him ?

Well, maybe nothing is wrong or maybe something. Rocking is a way that some kids self soothe, calm themselves.  Talking to himself-----  well, what do you mean by that.  I really think everyone does this from time to time.  And making noises-- not sure if that is unusual either.

So here is the thing with these types of behaviors----  when does he do it and does it impede on other things.  For example, does the school call you about these issues?  Is he able to function??

He's 11, so I assume that if you thought there were developmental issues, you'd have more clues by now.  Some kids ARE diagnosed with things later on but they've typically had a history throughout the entire existance of behaviors/quirks that the parents noticed and dealt with.

so, more information would really be helpful here!
