Hospitalisation

I am suffering from a severe depression. Last night I cried for % hours. I am 70+ and male. I want to be hospitalised, how do I go about it.

Respite could be another option.  Is a step down from hospital.

Could you not talk to your daughters and let them know how their behaviour is affecting you?
Ultimately I guess you need to accept that they need to resolve their own issues, even if it's not how you would like it to be done.

I think it's pretty selfish of them to be doing this when they could be enjoying your final years with you.  Not that 70 is old mind you.

Have you got somewhere, other than hospital, where you could stay?

Hopefully your bloods come back OK and your mood issues are easily treatable.  Therapy can also be helpful.  Having someone to talk to about stuff could make a huge difference.

Maybe you just need to concentrate on your own thing and let them do what they are.  It's sad but you can focus on stuff that you have control over.

You are so kind and I do appreciate your wonderful complements.  It just makes me very happy to hear you feeling better.  Depression is just awful! I do think the meds are helping you tremendously, but I also think therapy along with the meds could  help even more. Is the ADHD getting any better at all since you've been on meds? Take care my friend. Remar

Every time you make contact you put me at ease. It is a great gift that you have. I think that my GP feels that he can get me right on Meds only. I think he views that the chemicals in my brain are depleted and with Fluoxetine he is putting back the where with all to bring my thinking and feelings back to normal. He seems to be succeeding. I wonder what he will do for my ADHD? You ought to become a professional councillor, you certainly have the ability. Best Regards Dubba

Hi Dubba. You sound much better! I am so glad to hear the meds are helping you. No, you are not a fraud at all. When you first came to this site you were so severely depressed. Yes, there are some heartbreaking stories here. I'm so thankful for sites like this where people can come to and get support. Why can't you get therapy yet? Is your Dr not for it right now? Thank you so much for your kind words. I care very deeply for people and try to help when I can. I can't get over how much better you sound. That's so wonderful! Take care my friend. Remar

Hi Remar, Yep Bloods fine. I feel a fraud right now. These Fluoxetine are fantastic. I hope that this does not offend anyone but I've been reading a few posts and find them heart breaking. I read that day patients and inpatients have ties, belts and shoe laces removed. All my life I have been scared stiff of being admitted to the Mental Hospital. Now I have a Mental Illness, I want to be with the people on this site. I want to experience all the things that they all seem to experience, Yet I can't even get Psychotherapy currently. However that might change particularly when they look at my life time ADHD. I've also read some of your messages to others. Remar you are a wonderful and knowledgeable person. Regards Dubba

I'm so glad to hear your blood tests came back fine. The meds can really help with depression, but it's usually a good idea to get therapy along with them. Have you upped your dose yet?  Take care. Remar

Thanks Remar, not too bad. Bloods are OK now. The Fluoxetine has done wonders, but I can still feel the underlying stress of the depression. Regards Dubba
