Respite could be another option.  Is a step down from hospital.

Could you not talk to your daughters and let them know how their behaviour is affecting you?
Ultimately I guess you need to accept that they need to resolve their own issues, even if it's not how you would like it to be done.

I think it's pretty selfish of them to be doing this when they could be enjoying your final years with you.  Not that 70 is old mind you.

Have you got somewhere, other than hospital, where you could stay?

Hopefully your bloods come back OK and your mood issues are easily treatable.  Therapy can also be helpful.  Having someone to talk to about stuff could make a huge difference.

Maybe you just need to concentrate on your own thing and let them do what they are.  It's sad but you can focus on stuff that you have control over.

I'm sorry Jaquta, I was frustrated that things seemed to be going well then down a bit etc. I'm an active person and want to see things get moving. I had read that ECT was used only in the final resort but has a very high success rate. My thoughts were simply why not start there and speed things up. I suppose as different thing get tried I will calm down. Again thanks for your interest.

To me it would seem stupid to have ect (full stop but especially if not needed).

Medication (prozac) can effect BP.  I think it dropped mine as when on prozac I kept feeling dizzy and passed out a few times.

If you're interested in therapy you don't have to be in hospital you could do that privately (like as an outpatient).  Here in NZ I think that one one hour session would be in excess of $100.  You would need to do the exchange.

Prices for a private clinic in NZ could be googled if you're interested.  The place is called Ashburn Hall (?Ashburn Clinic).  It tells you how much for inpatient/ outpaitent, etc.  I don't think that it would say how much for ect.  I think that when I was threatened with it (but didn't receive it) it was about $30, 000.  Can't remember now.  That might have been total or for one.  The aneasthetic is what bumps up the price.

Have you thought about going into a rest home?

I'm so sorry your depression and BP are increasing. It might be time to up your meds right now.
I wish I could tell you what the cost would be but I'm not sure. The USA is a big country and there must be thousands of in patient mental health facilities. Are you having problems finding a place where you live, or is it the cost that's the problem? Take care. Remar

Thank you for your advice. If he increases the dose OK. My BP is slightly rising again alongside a rise in Depression. What would the cost be in USA for a 2 week stay in a Mental Hospital taking Psychotherapy daily, and maybe ECT. Might be a better proposition in the long term? I see my GP later in the week so I will see what he seggests for the future treatment. Thanks for your guidance, it is well accepted. Regards Dubba

Are you having any anxiety along with the depression? I'm just wondering why your BP is all over the place. It does seem to be getting better though.
I'm glad to hear you've started exercising. That will help with the depression. Pick exercises that you enjoy. If you don't enjoy sports exercises then you'll quit doing them.
It's normal to still be feeling tired and unable to concentrate at this point. You've only been on your meds for a short time. It does take time for them to fully get in to your system. Your Dr should check you again in a few weeks to see how your doing. He may want to increase your dose. This is not uncommon so try not to be concerned if he dose increase it.
Take care. Remar

Thanks for coming back Maddie. You have so much knowledge. I'm sure you can see my response to Remar. Your knowledge too has been a great help to me. On a lighter note, how can anyone living in beautiful Dorset have any problems. You live in a beautiful part og England. Thanks again, Dubba
