how to find a therapist?

I moved back to the area where I grew up and have been looking for a therapist with no luck!  I tried a couple of them but one was a long drive and I wasn't very comfortable with him and the other kept telling me you poor baby!  It drove me mad!  I kinda left it alone for awhile but now I am kinda in crisis mode due to the fact that my husband had some serious heart issues and the I lost the aunt who raised me and the my uncle took his life 2 months later because they had been married 58 yrs and he couldn't seem to handle it even though I was there everyday!  There seems to be a serious shortage of them in this area and I have called several places and they tell me it will be a month or more before I can get a appointment I called one of the biggest hospitals (the psych department but they don't even answer the phone and never return my calls).  I don't even know where to turn anymore any suggestions?

Do you have a community clinic? where i live there are a community clinic thing where you can get counseling, home support, psychiatrist, etc and its sort of cheap.  Maybe you might find one in the phone book or in your town. sorry I'm not much help.

Best of luck

Psychology Today has a "therapist finder" database that lists therapist by geographic location. You can refine the results by areas that are applicable to what kind of therapist you need, like family counseling, OCD etc.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Have you ever considered holistic psychotherapy?
Please look into it.
This may be a very viable option for you.
There are many holistic therapists in your state.
(I'm in Canada and practice Energy Psychotherapy.)
It is a very efficient therapy modality, and usually with good results.

At least one Holistic Therapist  is in your area. (Not necessarily a recommendation)
