What are these black spots under my toenail?

There seems to be a grouping of around 5 black dots surrounded by a lighter brown circle under my big toenail. It’s diameter is about 1/4 of an inch. It is not painful and it is close to the center of my toenail. Any clues to what it might be? Thank you.

It could be a fungus of some type- have you been to a doctor?

No it happened recently and I thought it was trauma. I didn’t think anything of it.
It could be trauma- but being that it isn't painful, it's hard to tell.  I'd recommend seeing a doctor so they can identify what it is more accurately.
Thanks for the quick response. I dont know why but the site won’t give me notifications, so sorry I was late.
