Chihuahua w/ ear issues
Breed: chihuahua
Age: 4 1/2 years
Symptoms: pain in inner ear canal, bumps in both ears, sensitivity, nervousness
What could this be? How can I treat it?
Tried: baths, ear washes, ear mite treatments (the medicine bubbled up in her ears and she jumped down when she felt it because she doesn't lurk her ears being messed with while they are sore even though she usually loves ear rubs).

Welcome...You didn't mention if she has seen a Vet or not.....Sensitivity & Nervousness are signs of PAIN! By the time a dog shows signs, it's BAD! Was she diagnosed with ear mites? They have a classic look (Coffee grounds) & normally, medication from your Vet clears these right up simply.
The bumps could be a lot of things including a reaction to the earwashes....Too many to begin to guess...
My greatest concern is a classic ear infection! These are extremely painful & dangerous if left untreated....Without the proper prescription (Ear drops or oral liquid or both) this will only get worse....
Has she seen a Vet for her ears? Left untreated correctly, the infection can eventually migrate to the inner ear and cause MANY problems including loss of coordination, head tilt, etc....When it gets this far, it is very, very hard to treat.....
Again, Ear Aches are awful???? If you haven't already, make an appointment to have her treated and get this pain under control....Good luck & please come back with a report....Thanks, Karla

My experience with ear itch in dogs that do not have too much hair in the ear, is Yeast infections. This requires prescription medications to cure..and again in my experience with a Westie, it is an ongoing battle.
Do the ears have a smell? That could indicate yeast.. is there any build up that you can see or wipe out with a cotton ball when using an ear wash solution - these solutions are specifically for the ears, and my contain Ketoconozole (sp?) - shampoos also are available with that medications which is effective in fighting dermatological (Yeast) problem.
