I am so sorry for your loss. At least you were able to get him Vet care and now know the cause.
we brought him into the vet his liver and kidneys were shutting down and he was jaundice and dehydrated he had something called leptospirosis...it happened so quick last night we made the decision to end his suffering and put him to rest :( soooohorrible RIP bear xoxoxoxoxo thanks for everyones advice
Glad the foot is looking better but sounds like something might be going on and I hope it is not systemic.
If you can't afford the Vet, do you have a Vet you work with that you can possibly talk to over the phone?

Sorry for the typos. I am on the iPad.
Should be "for abrasions but only one time"
Ok, i can understand your financial issues. Maybe Karla will see this and make some recommendations.
First off, did you try and give the area a good inspection to make sure there usn't something stuck or embedded in it? Any sign of a cut or puncture? I have used hydrogen peroxide for abrasions but inky one time and never on an open wound (except on myself) as it can damage tissue. You can clean it good with soap and water and dry thoroughly (with a hair dryer, if need be). You can soak the foot in tepid Epsom salts and water, rinse well and dry. I would not use he morbid cream! You can use an OTC antibiotic cream. Put some gauze around it and try wrapping it with Vet wrap. If he won't leave it alone. Put a sock over it. I would repeat this daily.
That being said, this could be a granuloma, some type of infection, a malignant growth, etc and really should be evaluated by a Vet. He may need antibiotics. Perhaps your vet would let you make payments, ask a family member for a loan, etc? I would hate to see this get worse and it could easily end up costing much more in the long run.
No, he did not catch whatever you were sick with.
