In fear of losing him so soon

I have a 5 month old French bulldog who has been haveing lots of problems he started to lose his appetite about 3 weeks ago and then he started showing other symptoms like drinking huge amounts of water and going to the toilet every 5 minutes he was also not playful at all , me and my partner took him to the vets about 2 weeks ago and they gave us antibiotics for a urine infection but gave us something to collect his urine in so they could see if there is something else wrong , we went back last week and they are saying his urine is definitely abnormal and it's looking along the lines of kidney problems if this Is the case I understand that it would be life threatening and i am absolutely gutted just at the thought of that. The vet says that because he is so young this would have been hereditary and it would hav been a problem he had from birth. His name is Pablo and I love him to bits he looks so sad at the moment and just wants to be by my side . I am praying that it's not his kidneys does anyone kno anything about kidney problems?  and if I am going to lose my baby so soon. I will
Be devastated .

Hi Frankie......How is Pablo? Have you found out anything? I've been wondering....

You can search this forum for articles on Kidney Disease, Renal Failure, etc. There's a "search this community" box on the top right.....There is alot, alot of info. in different messages....Also, in the Vet Forum...

If you find that Pablo indeed has Kidney Problems, I feel your best help would be a Holistic Vet.
This is just an example:  If your regular Vet says your dog has 6 mos. to live, A Holistic approach would be 2-4 years! Quite a difference!!!!

To find a Holistic Vet in your area, go to the AHVMA webpage. There will be a search by state....It will give you a list with addresses & phone numbers.....

If you choose to do this, be sure and ask for all records (Blood tests, Urine Tests, etc.) from your regular Vet, to take with you... This will save you some money....

Without a doubt, this is what I'd do.....The approach will be much different.

Please, let me know how things are going and what you find out......I wish you & yours a Happy New Year!      Karla

P.S. If you are feeding a dry food (Kibble), you must stop.....Any dog with Kidney problems needs wet food (Canned) to keep the Kidneys flushed....Just a thought....

I'm sorry, because I don't know much about kidney problems. But maybe if you posted your question on the Ask a Vet Expert Forum, you would get some help there. There may be ways in which this condition can be managed. Okay -maybe not cured, but managed. That would give him a better quality of life and much more time. I am sure the vets there will help you.
A way to get to the forum is, scroll down this page....right down till you see "Related Expert Forums" on the right below, then click on "Animal Health General"
Other people here will probably know more than I do about how to help kidney problems. I am sure you will get more answers here soon too.
