I am so sorry about the loss of your pup. It's possible he had a congenital heart problem. Sometimes conditions like this can go undetected, until there is a sudden collapse.
I am very sorry. It's heartbreaking to lose a dog, and so sad when they are young.
Thank you. I appreciate your comments. This seems to be a complete mystery as the blood work they did Tuesday evening reflected no indication of poison. That was a concern of ours as well since he had a habit of getting in to the trash basket. Other than shredding a diaper or two from a visiting baby, there wasn't anything harmful.

I DON'T KNOW IF THIS HELPS, BUT IS IT POSSIBLE HE GOT INTO ANY POISON IN THE HOUSE, OR ATE SOME INDOOR PLANT??HOW ABOUT ANT TYPE OF POISON KEPT OUT SIDE?BY THE WAY, I HAD A BEAGLE MIX A FEW YEARS AGO ABOUT 9 YEARS OLD, IN WHAT SEEMED LIKE GOOD HEALTH, BUT ON DAY I NOTICED HE WAS HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING AND RUSHED HIM TO 24 HOUR VET WERE HE ALSO HAD A CARDIAC ARREST AND DIED, THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION OTHER THEN IT MAY HAVE BEEN SOMETHING LIKE HEREDITY.....I AM SURE YOU DOG IS IN DOGGY HEAVEN, THE BIBLE SAYS THAT NOT EVEN A SPARROW FALLS WITHOUT GOD KNOWING
