Every once in a while, my dog will hack & sometimes hack up some phlegm.  I checked with my vet & they said it is most likely her bile fluid.  Dogs do that when they don't eat after so many hours.  So my dog would do it in the morning, which would make sense since she hasn't eaten all night.  She just did it one morning last week.  What does it look like?  As the last posting stated, is it yellow colored bile?  That's what my dog hacks up.  She did it almost every day after we brought her home for the adoption center 3 years ago.  How often does she hack?  I would probably go to another vet & get a second opinion.

So, the Vets have no idea what is causing this?  And they have done scopes to check the esophogus?  Does she do this all the time or if she has an empty stomach?  Is it yellow colored bile she is throwing up?  I'm no Vet but I've had dogs that will do that (our Greyhound will do that) but is usually when they have an empty stomach.  You can ask your Vet if you can try giving Pepcid twice a day about 1/2 hour before meals. Ask them what the dose would be for your dog and if you can give it with the torbotrol or possibly just try the Pepcid for a bit. There are other drugs that can be used too.
Poor little thing.  Hope you can get some resolution.
Again, please at least call you Vet and check with them first!  It's easy for many of us to give advice but you should always refer to your Vet or get a second opinion.
