Back in feb 2014 I awoke one morning (after eating quite a lot of salami and blue cheese the night before - two foods I never really eat) with sudden BPPV-like symptoms... spinning room when tilting my head to one side and resulting nausea. This subsided completely in a few days but I was left with intermittent dizziness which has become more permanent in recent months.
Have also had ongoing (mild) tinnitus, blurred/double vision (better now) mild numbness in hand/ foot / face and now I have stiff / crunchy neck (fingers often stiff too), a throat clunking (catching of something) when I swallow, and in the past 2 weeks building ear pain .. in my right ear only. No hearing impairment. Have also got a swollen hamulus area on roof of mouth... the pain in my ear feels close to that spot behind my back upper molars. Moving my jaw around directly affects the sore area. Fatigue and generally feeling quite sick/ill are perhaps the most enduring symptoms.
As I do not have health insurance I have relied upon San Francisco's free health care system - so have only seen a clinic doctor who has ordered many sets of blood tests - the only thing that were a little off were my B12 levels. Been supplementing since then which does seem to health with energy sometimes. Have also had a neurology appointment (basically reflex and MS type testing) and an MRI was ordered (at least 5 weeks away).
Things have gotten worse these past few weeks which is worrying me.. I;ve never had a long-term illness before and I really feel like I should have seen an ENT doctor by now.. my doc says the MRI would be necessary for that anyway, so I should wait. That doesn't feel like enough to me .. I've not been prescribed any antiobiotics or antifungals since my WC blood counts were normal. Just had a new WCB test last week since the ear pain indicated an infection (awaiting results).
Any light anyone can shed on this would be most appreciated.
Thank you!
