Would appreciate any suggestions on what has become a real mystery illness. I first went to my local doctor almost a year ago after I'd been unwell for about 3 weeks. The symptoms included a feeling of pressure in my ears, a mior sore throat, and an overwhelming feeling of fatigue that was causing me to sleep for hours during the day. I was given a basaket of medicines to treat the symptoms and sent away. Over the course of the next few months I was regularly back at the same clinic as I simply wasn't getting better. I seemed to be stuck in a pattern where I might feel okay for a few weeks, then I'd be back sick again for a few weeks. Every time I went to the doctor they would take blood tests and would tell me about indicators for a virus. On occasions they would say I had a high red or white blood count. As time went past with no improvement I was referred to various specialists. This included ECG tests [as I was having random minor chest pains], ENT test, MRI, CTI and visits to neurologists and rheumatalogists. In all cases they told me they could see nothing unremarkable and I was left no closer to an explanation. Over this summer, I had s spell of around 4 weeks where I felt quite good. I thought I might be finally over it. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. At the time of writing, I've had the worst spell since the symptoms began. I'm feeling so unwell that just getting out of bed is a real struggle. I have a horrible feeling of pressure in my ears. I can feel a popping or clearing effect very temporarily if I hold my nose and blow, but the feeling is now constant. My throat is raw and slightly sore, and I just generally feel miserable. I'm away from home at the moment and went to a doctor here [in the Philippines]. That wasn't very successful. he looked at my throat and prescribed anti-biotics. In the days that followed I felt worse than ever. This latest bout started with a bad stomach upset with stomach cramps and diarohea. I still have some stomach pain, muscle pain, and the other symptoms described above. I'm not sleeping well during the night and need to take 2-3 hour naps during the day. Trying to work is almost impossible. It feels to me that my body is fighting something of a glandular nature but I'm frustrated that no-one can tell me what it is or why it has been going on so long. Any ideas most gratefully appreciated.
