Ear piercing scar... 4 years later.

Hi there.
A bit over 4 years ago I had my ear cartilage pierced with 2 piercings. One of the piercings healed fine where as the other one never did fully heal. Eventually, after being swollen for a while, I removed that piercing and once the swelling went down I had a large bump left over.
Now I've researched hypertrophic and keloid scarring like crazy, but have never found any answers.
4 years later I still have this bump. It might have grown some, but it doesn't itch or hurt and hasn't spread over my ear. It's just very hard and red.
I don't have a history of weird or bad scarring. Even when I had my appendix removed when I was young, the incision healed just fine.
One doctor I went to a couple years ago gave me some antibiotics but those didn't work. Another doctor did say it was a keloid scar, but I'm not sure if that's true. I'm 26 of french/german ancestry and I know people with lighter skin aren't as susceptible to keloid scarring, but who knows. If I can post a photo of it, I will.
Thanks.

Sounds like a keloid and ANYONE can get these.  Yes, I would say this is 100% a keloid scar.

There are several options out there for this.......corticosteroid injections into the area, cryosugery, pulsed dye laser treatment, etc.

I would recommend consulting a plastic surgeon or a Dermatologist who does the above.

I had one myself; on my right ear.  It was the size of a pea and I had it removed over 20 years ago and it NEVER came back, so I am very happy about that.  You can have a normal scar on one part of your body and have a keloid scar on another part......that's possible.  Ears are ESPECIALLY prone to keloids.

I should also mention that I had messed around with the piercing in question in my naivete, so I do believe that had I not tried to manipulate the piercing as I did, I would not have this scarring.
