Explosion pain when irrigating maxillar sinus

A friend of mine describes the symptoms:

Anita had never had any problems with sinusitis. Ever.

Anita called me shortly after the irrigation in februari. She was in great pain. She had almost fainted during the treatment and no sinus had been emptied. The doctor had used something described as a support plug, ejected  into her face. She tried to lie down for a couple of days, but the pain did not subside. She went back after a week to the facility with her fiance, but without receiving much help about what to do. No X-rays was made, not even suggested.

She had severe problems/pain when sitting upright/holding the head in upright position, at the end of March she could sit up at most 7 hours in a row, then it snapped. The pain was and is located on the left side of facial cranium, in the root of the nose and in the structures behind the nose.

During this spring and summer the situation has been totally consistent. If Anita ignores the pain and stays too long in an upright position the pain gets a lot worse, some parts my snap and then the pain and instability get just as bad as it got in February, the injury gets reopened. This has happened twice this spring. If she stays in supine position she can gradually get better and be more in an upright position after a period of 6 weeks.

There is also the sensation of itching in the bone structures 4-6 weeks after the original injury and every time the injury is reopened.

A CT-scan has been made after the injury (with low resolution), but that was two month after the treatment.
Anita is slowly making some kind of progress after 6 month the pain is fading since the last time it snapped and the stability is improving, but she still cant sit.

What's your opinion?

Whith kind regards Anita

Hi again!
New clue:
A MRI was performed on my face just recently and the result says that the nasala conchas are
hypertrophic. It says that they are thick and made thick.
In the two x-rays I,ve done after the irrigation it is clearly visible that the nasala conchas are much wider and thicker then they were before ( I compared with older x-rays of my self).
What does that mean?
Besides the hellish pain in my face, Ive been perfectly healthy after(and before) the irrigation.

Anita

Hi!
Thankyou for responding.
The CT -scan (low resolution) was made 2 month after it. It did not show anything in particular.
I´ve heard that an X-ray must be done within 10-14 days after an injury.

Do you have an other suggestions?

Whith kind regards Anita

Hi,

Can you please mention the findings of the CT scan? Further management depends on the CT findings.
