Hi, i had same issue and was diagnosed with Meniere. What worked for me:
-melatonin (remfresh) to sleep
-very low sodium diet (1500 mg)
-food allergy test indicated i am allergic to some foods which i stopped taking (Menieres disease may be triggered by allergies)
- gingko biloba and alpha lipoic acid supplements for tinnitus
-take natural diuretics (eg dandelion tea)
-drink two liters of water a day
-cut out caffeine
- low sugar and low carb diet (150 g or less of carbs per day)- some research shows link between glucose level and menieres disease
I know what you are going through. I feel a lot better after a few very tough months. Best of luck!

hi, i am just wondering how what tests should be done to test for menieres. i have been having symptoms of menieres for about 8 years now. i have had balance tests, hearing tests and an mri, plus talked to plenty of dr's including a neurologist who thinks my problem is migraines, which is very possible but the tinnitus and severity of the vertigo still makes me believe its menieres. i feel like my dr's have not taken my condition seriously enough. i'm just wondering what else i can ask my dr's to do.

Hi,

"Nice photo of you couple over there."

When was your Meniere's disease diagnosed? Are you taking any medicines for that? Mumbai is a heaven for surgeons and physicians I believe, so hope they have diagnosed it correctly.

Meniere's disease (endolymphatic hydrops) is one the commonest inner ear problem. Mostly it is idiopathic (i.e. no actual cause is found), can also be due to viral infection/head injury. Giddiness is one such problem where most of the doctors fail to identify the exact cause and treat empherically with Betahistine (Vertin/Betavert) or Cinnarizine (Stugeron).
Well! After diagnosing, one as to resort to either of these above drugs followed by vestibular rehabilitation exercises. Also, do consult an apt ENT specialist and get suitable medications for the same.

Few suggestions:
 Please get PTA (pure tone audiometry) of your ears done, to look for any neural damage
 Sit or lie down immediately when you feel dizzy - During an episode of vertigo, avoid things that can make your signs and symptoms worse, such as sudden movement, bright lights, watching television or reading
 Rest during and after attacks -  Don't rush to return to your normal activities
 Be aware of the possibility of losing your balance
 Avoid driving a car or operating heavy machinery - if you experience frequent episodes of vertigo
 Dietary changes - modifying your diet can reduce your body's fluid retention and help decrease fluid in your inner ear
 Eat regularly
 Limit salt
 Avoid monosodium glutamate (MSG) - Some prepackaged food products contain MSG, a type of sodium. MSG can contribute to fluid retention
 Other lifestyle changes
o Avoid caffeine. Foods and beverages that contain caffeine (such as chocolate, coffee, tea and fizzy drinks)
o Stop smoking
o Manage stress and anxiety

I was misdiagnosed with Meniere's and actually have another inner ear disorder, but I can tell you that they are all miserable.

Are you seeing an ENT Specialist who deals with inner ear problems specifically?  NOT ALL ENTS ARE COMPETENT WITH INNER EAR DISORDERS; trust me.

Any vestibular testing done?

Tried Betahistine or Antivert at all?  I take Betahistine 3x/day and seems to help me.
