no breathing with mucus

At night I start getting choked and cant breath because of mucus so thick.  It causes me to get where I feel like passing out.  It becomes very hard to breath. When I cough thick white mucus comes out. I've been to doctors and they don't seem to know what is wrong. They blame it on allergy..

Folks,
I am no Doctor, just a person with a very similar problem.  I spent years trying to get help from the doctors and was constanly finding no relief from this problem. I found a website that professed to have a cure for post nasal drip.  this site talked about the infections in our sinuses and the fact the the infections grow in the excess mucus we have there ( warm moist breeding ground).  He found a thessis on the antimicrobial effects of certain plant extracts.

It sound dorky, but it works and it works well.  Here is his "cure" more treatment.  He talked about the treatment he has as applying a topical antibiotic directly into the nasal cavities.  I have found hat beyond the treatment of sinoitis, it also seems to irritate the mucus membranes and allow for a more watery and less sticky and cloying mucus production.

Here is my post:

I  have had this same problem for about 10 years as well.  To the point of wishing i could simply die.  I progressed to the point of not sleeping for more then 5-10 minutes ever becasue of the choking.  I saw the docs and they all said "I can't help you"
I found an add on the internet that was for treatment of Post Nasad Drip and bought the product -- It was 3 essential Oils. I paid $90 and had to wait for them to arrive and later found I could buy the products online or locally for much less.  What you need is (Cinnimin Spelling) leaf extract, Clove extract, and Thyme extract) and what is called a facial sauna ( one is called a head and chest breath steam at walgreens).  You place a drop or 2 of each in the measured amount of water and allow the device to heat up to produce steam.  You then breath this steam in for about 2-3 minutes.
Understand this process will tell you if you are using enough or not or too much.  Just breath normall inot your nose.  If you cannot breath thru your nose breath thru your mouth eventually your nose will clear after a few days.
Do this treatment every couple hours for the first 2 days then once a day for the next week, then once a week after that.
It was magic for me, after all that choking and hacking to try to clear my throat and lack of sleep, sfter the first day, I slept peacfully for 8 hours.  I had not done that in over 5 years.  This was a godsend.  I hope this helps you as well.

Additionally I found that of ALL the sinus sprays on the market (OTC or PRescribes) only Vics Synex in the mister form have ever helped.

Lastly and perhaps bestly Chocolate.  I am certain by now you have found that water is almost completely ineffectualy at allowing you to clear your throat.  Chocolate seems to make the sticky mucus unable to stick in my throat and allows me to Cough it out.  Kirkland weight loss shakes, or candy, both seem to work well, but the shakes are less hard on your teeth and weight.

I hope this helps

It could be Asthma. I'm an asthmatic and the symptoms are: Tightness of chest, difficulty breathing, sinus drainage into the lungs cause mucus into the bronchial tubs.  If the mucus is white, that can be an infection in your lungs.

Asthma is a disease and it can be life threatening if not treated properly. I carry an inhaler, but season change can also trigger Asthma.  Ask your doctor if it could possibly be asthma, because it can be a life threatening desease.

Good Luck
