tonsilectomy and adenoidectomy

My daughter is 8 and had surgery on the 24th of Feb. She isn't eating food. She can only drink water and juice. I give her hydrocodone every 4 hours. Now it's been a few days and she still doesn't want  2 eat. She yells and cries in the middle of the night that she has pain. She hasn't had any fever, I took her to the dr and they said that she is heeling. I just want to know if anyone has had the same thing happen with thier child. thanks

Will she drink fluids?? Have you tried some pedialyte? They have popscicles too,,,I wonder if her throat is just still sore and swollen a lil bit? Ibruprofen reduces inflammation,,check with your doctor that may be a better option than the hydrocodone,,Hope she feels better soon :))~Bkitty

I will say that sometimes the pain killer also kills the need for food.  She may be having the same reaction.  My son had the same surgery and we were not given pain killers!  Maybe some ice cream and popsicles are in order.
