Pain after laparoscopy

I wondered if anyone who had had a laparoscopy could tell me how long it hurt for.

I still feel quite alot of pain when walking after a week and wondered if that is normal, as everywhere I read that people resume normal activities after a couple of days.

I am not doubled up or anything, its just like having a constant stitch, and when i take a step, especially around my belling button there is a kind of sharp tugging pain. Also some stabbing pains too that just seem to happn even when sitting still.

Just wanted to know if this is usual, I expcet it is, but thought I would ask others who had had similar, who might tell me how long until the abdomen feels normal again.

Thanks

I am 2 weeks post op from a lap to get polyps removed and d and c and I am feeling great! They also found endo in my pelvis but as of now, I don't know if they did anything for it. 2 days after my surgery, I went back to work. I took my narcotic only once on the evening of my surgery and that was it, so driving to work 2 days after was no problem. Ibuprofen 800 mg was my best friend for up to a week after due to lower back pain, shoulder and arm pain, and tenderness to my incision sites. I did have sharp pain to my pelvic area, can't really pinpoint where specifically, but I think it's normal to have that for a few days after surgery. I really think that walking around helps with the pain and with our digestive system instead of just lying in bed. I hope your pain goes away soon. Drink lots of water and if it doesn't get better, go to the nearest ER.

it is very normal to have pain 5 days post op from surgery...even a minimally invasive one...please remember they have cut through your abdomen and peeked and poked around..Also, did they just look around or did they cut out disease while in there...just because you can't see what was done on the inside most likely more has been done  then you realize! Rest is what your body needs to heal! Are you taking your pain medication? if it's not working you should call your surgeon and ask for more or a different type because it's best to stay ahead of your pain then to try to catch up once it gets ahead of you!  If in doubt...ALWAYS call your surgeon! That is their job to make sure you are ok! Don't be afraid to ask for what you need and discuss what is going on...if you don't like the treatment you are being given...seek a second opinion! But most likely this is normal healing so heal well because you only get one chance to heal correctly so allow your body the time it needs to heal well!

My thoughts on the lower back pain are that we are pumped with gas and then the anesthesia they use slows down our digestive track.  Then we use pain pills which also "stop you up."  The stomach and digestion go thru a lot and everything gets trapped which radiates to your lower back and up your spine/shoulders.  I'm sitting here 8 days after my laproscopy with a heating pad on my back and pain that radiates down my legs.  It's been a hard recovery in that sense.  I feel that after everything gets moving again and back to normal, the pain will go away.  Just need to make sure we're eating healthy and taking both insoluble and soluble fiber to get things back to normal.    I deal with a lot of this same pain all the time with my slow digestion so i know all these pains really well.  :/

Sounds very similar to my experience. I honestly thought healing would be much easier!  Wa told I would feel normal in four days and its just not the case. Its been 11 days and am getting around easier but I do still get sore in the back iuf. I walk too much or sit in certain position.  I hope you continue to heal well.
